Panthers Offensive Tackle Martin Wallace

The offensive line has seen a few changes in week three of the Carolina Panthers OTA practices.

One of those changes puts #77 back in at the left tackle positions. Instead of Byron Bell, this time is was Martin Wallace.

Wallace moved up to second string left offensive tackle for a few plays. While this doesn't sound like a major accomplishment for Wallace, it actually is. Getting second string reps is something some players will never see in camp.

So who is Martin Wallace?

Listed at 6'6 and 330lbs, Wallace played college ball at Northeastern and Temple. As a senior he made the second team All-Big East Conference team. Wallace came into the league at 305lbs. His added bulk may be by the direction of David Gettleman, but that is speculation on my part.

Wallace was signed by the Cleveland Browns as an UDFA back in 2013. He was then released and signed to Carolina's practice squad last October.

As of now, it looks like Wallace has leap frogged Canadian project David Foucault, who hasn't seen any time with the second string (at least on media days).

    • attempting to build a stereotypical offense for their non-stereotypical QB?  I mean, I’m ready to move on from Bryce so I don’t really care.   But yeah, I’ve been clear since we drafted him the the only way I think Young can work is to to build him a Bryce dink and dunk O with their scheme and talent.  Big picture,  we are going to likely have better interior OL play and slightly better playcalling.   I mean, this is a Mike Williams thread.  What type of O did  Canales run  in Tampa?  The only addition skill talent wise to date is problem wideout the Steelers tried to deal for a year and couldn’t that plays on the outside.  Big picture I don’t dislike what they are doing to fix the O…but it’s still IMO a variation of last year where it’s not going to be catering to an anomaly QB.   I think we drafted an anomaly QB….and still have not come to terms with that.  and the talk/mood just feels like last year on repeat for me.  I was never it’s an all Bryce Young sucks guy either.  I didn’t like what they were putting him into from the jump when so many were talking playoffs and best roster since 2003 type stuff.  I still don’t like what they are putting him in….at least to date.  I don’t think we are going to put him in position again this year to help him reach his potential.
    • I mean this is exactly what we have been wanting for the past 2-3 years. Another goal scorer and 2c at the trade deadline. We finally do it and it works out! Who wouldve thought? Im ready for the playoffs.
    • Trimmed the fat and added some beef. Strengthened the interior line and also gave Brown a partner in crime.  Could we see a Center and NT with our first two picks?  An advocate of building a team from the inside out can dream.  Barton and Sweat would be the most unsexy top picks ever but... for me, be still my heart. I give us a B-
