A Giant Debacle - Straw Grasping in NYC

If the roles were reversed and Norman had shown his ass like that, I would want him off the team yesterday. I wouldn't want to see the Panthers try and come up with excuse after excuse for why one of their players tried to intentionally injure another player. The Giants organization and their fans are just plain disgusting on this one.

There is a path for talent to find itself right to the NFL with little or no regards to the social upbringing/maturity or the personal accountability, social responsibility and fiscal understanding of the athlete involved.

Is it no surprise that far too many ex-athletes, especially in the NFL struggle to assimilate into society, avoid bankruptcy and manage violent behavior when they have been catered to groom their on field talents at all costs.

It's time for the athlete to realize they are flesh and bone with such a short time in their life to play professionally...........and when that body fails them on the field they will have to face a life outside of football which many are ill prepare for......

Beckham is just one sad example of such behavior.................

I love NFL football........but I also hate it was well..............much for the reasons stated above.

Its a bittersweet contest for me to enjoy.

Nice read.  I agree 100%.  Hopefully this ends soon.  He acted like a fool and hurt his image.  Know their trying to repair it with made up bs.  I for one will never look at the Giants the same.  They made it worse with these stupid accusationss.  Even if there true.  Trash talk goes on every game. Lol

The giants have put on a facade of caring but supporting and enabling him in his actions since prior to the game even ending.

They were absolutely positive that they could make him "the hero" in the late game, and now we've seen three different attempts to defend his actions (each one coming out conveniently after the previous one failed to gain any traction) from people within the organization while Coughlin acts horrified publicly

well, Steve Smith is viewed as the GOAT around here.

Beckham IMO has a lot of Steve Smith in him.  89 learned to deal with his anger issues but even today 89 struggles w/ it.  He never learned to make it a nonissue.

Yeah, I remember all those times Smith took flying leaps at people's heads in game with the blatant intention of injuring them...

89 would swing on anyone...with or without a helmet, teammate or opponent.  I do think you can draw some comparison's between the two.  89 struggled with controlling his anger and all reports or NY Giants have worried about the same issue.  Just b/c every outburst wouldn't be an apples to apples moment doesn't mean they aren't similar guys.

Point was 89 had legit anger issues and he never beat them.  He got better at it but to this day it is an issue for the man. Beckham has issues.

Point was merely we gotta be careful calling him the biggest POS ever...when our GOAT had a comparable problem.

That is the NFL fault too....you wouldn't of wanted to make 89 the face of the NFL in 2003.  He had too many issues.  NFL shouldn't of put this kid as the face of the NFL recently.  He ain't that kind of dude (not this young and w/ his issues)

    • Many times the best deal is the one you have.  This team has  2 top 40 picks with a draft full of talent and a team full of holes.  Whatever they do they should not squander the opportunity that is sitting in front of them.  Best you can hope for is that they don’t overthink it.
    • Space eater isn't our biggest need. But I see a value to good to pass up after his boneheaded DUI during the draft process. I assume this moves him completely out of the second round maybe pushed into the 4th. I would be hard pressed to not pull the trigger in the 3rd round somewhere.  At 6'4 366 I would love to insert him day one and just really be done with Shy tuttle who is just a jag. This guy would be an upgrade and one small mistake of partying to hard doesn't indicate a everyday problem. This kid can't be blocked 1 on 1 and just allowed texas to stop the run of his strength. he bats down a ton of passes and i would consider him a value getting a almost first round talent that late in the draft. what say you?
