Carolina Panthers Roster Projection

Would love for us to carry 6 WR's and 4 Safeties. With the amount of CB's we have, and playing Jeremy Cash as another LB, I think we can get by.

I'm not sure Garrett is the kind of receiver that will last being stashed on our practice squad. I think it depends on how well he does in TC.

At this point, I think that it's a little too early to be labeling any of the new prospects at receiver.  Hell, we don't even know what Funchi's role is going to be with definite clarity.  The development, observation, and progression of these young men individually, and within terms of how they fit within the group, will help winnow out their effective role in the offense.

Speed kills, but so does the inability to catch.

On an off note, Byrd may be the fastest on the team. Having Byrd and Ginn would suffice for our need for speed.

We don't need more speed while having Ginn. Byrd will likely stick on the PS another year while waiting to replace Teddy if we let him go.

You better look up his pro day 40 times bruh... And even if it's a tenth slower, he CAN catch

4.53 vs. 4.36 A .17 difference is a huge difference. And the tape of the two backs up these 40 times. Hill plays so much faster than Garrett it's not even funny. Garrett and Hill probably aren't even competing with each other for a spot. Garrett with Philly, Bersin, Norwood, etc. and Hill with Ginn and Byrd. And while I'm certainly excited about Garrett it's pretty unlikely he makes the roster, unless we keep 6.

Hell, the way Rivera seemingly does things, I wouldn't be surprised if the status quo remains after all is said and done. @Jeremy Igo's roster projection is about as conservative as they come. It's safe, and it's very Rivera-esque, and just may be what it's going to be. Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

With my perhaps cynical-colored glasses on, I can say with a straight face that training camp is going to tell the tale of the tape which will be juxtaposed against Rivera's notions of loyalty and next-man-up ideology, and not even the preseason games or anything else will change what is a seeming formality.

Byrd, Garrett, Cox, Marlowe or whoever is going to have to make Rivera and company give them a roster spot by balling out.

Note: Only 5 receivers are kept as the depth here is outstanding compared to other positions. This unit is 1000% improved over the unit only two seasons ago. Stephen Hill is the x-factor here with both size and speed. The Panthers remain convinced of his potential.

How good of a route runner and *Catcher is Hill. IMO Garrett is a better option.

Colin Jones counts as a safety/nickel as noted.

Other than that, very very thin, depth needed.

IMO we will either keep a extra FB or HB/TE along with our regular TE to help the OTs unless we have upgrade at OT. There is a reason for the competition at HB/TE.

2 Sleepers for HB/TE role Bonnet & Devon Johnson
