Practice Tweets 10/10 - Ryan Kalil Practicing

I’ll say it, let Larsen start.

short week, OL has some good chemistry going right now.

Let Kalil rest another week and come back the next week when he has time to knock the rust off and to make sure he is fully healthy.  I’d have him active though just in case.   Don’t like mixing up the OL on a short week when they have gotten in a groove.

I know Kalil is better.  Doesn’t mean coming off an injury rusty, in a short week of prep makes him the best option this week though

also, we added a dt to practice squad.

Panthers add D-lineman Mike Purcell to p-squad. Played in 25 games for SF from ’14-’16. Takes spot of D.Southward, who was promoted last wk.

How can he be added to practice squad if he played/suited for 25 games?

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
