There's no way to know.

I have no doubt we're the better organization, but going back to where he grew up might be tempting.

I have been to Cleveland.

I would question the mental stability of anyone with money and options that really wanted to go back there.

No offense to the many wonderful people from Ohio who now live here in NC.

I'm not from Ohio, but I lived there for 2 years.

I wouldn't argue with you.

New York Post reporting that McDaniels will interview in New York on either Monday or Wednesday.

McDaniels interview moved up after Patriots loss

Still haven't heard anything much from Panthers sources but both the Browns and Giants reporters have said those interviews will happen earlier than originally expected. Gotta believe it'll probably happen here too.

Yep.  Those were two very different teams.  Hell didn’t McDaniels have Kyle Orton as his QB?

Actually he had Kyle Orton, The Golden Calf of Bristol, and Brady Quinn.

He was fired and replaced by John Fox who actually released Kyle Orton and went with The Golden Calf of Bristol as the starting QB.  That was the season they made the playoffs and shocked the Steelers in OT guided by The Golden Calf of Bristol.  That was The Golden Calf of Bristol's most glorious NFL moment.

I have convinced myself that McDaniels is the right choice. I hope we get this done this week so we can move on and concentrate on the DC role.

Not just the DC, but the entire staff.  I'm looking at potential draft picks and systems actually make a difference with some players.  Hopefully McD will see our strength is in a 43 and correct last year's debacle.

I honestly don't think the 3-4 defense was the issue but more so the fact that we didn't have the correct personnel to run an effective 3-4 defense. Add a true nose tackle and get KK short back, plus an addition of another edge rusher, I could see it being more effective.

Personally, I am not ready to give up on the 3-4 defense just yet.

Poe had played in both systems, so yes, he has played NT in the 34 prior.  Outside of Burns and Haynes, we are still set up for a 43.  Haynes is a JAG in both systems, granted a better fit for the 34.  Instead of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, I think Burns is athletic enough to convert to a 43 LB instead of everyone else trying to fit the 34.

Yes, and when and if he leaves his new team to go back to his old before his contract expires, it will take that team five years to recover

in no way, do I see McDaniels as a guy who would blend into the South

Dude, half of NC is from up North now. I’ve got people here asking me where I’m from because I have Southern accent. I say, “Uh, I’m from here.”

    • Yeah it is nice seeing some improvement on the defensive side and the young guys.   I don’t want to think about the future much if Bryce doesn’t heal and we are kept in this limbo via an incomplete test. It is depressing  I don’t have quite as dim a view of the 24 draft class as you do   I have modest hopes for XL compared to none. I like CSW.  Am a little cooler on Sanders but at the same time realized this week that Morgan getting that future 2nd for moving down turned into Scourton. I think. Jackson is a real value in exchange for the guy we took with the 7th. I don’t expect anything from Brooks but Wallace seems to have improved enough to not bust. And Coker is in with them, but is giving us nothing this year. So far, and it is almost half over     I hope Andy still has enough to make watching the offense less of a claustrophobic experience. And there is a small chance we upset the Bills but just playing them tough and making it a fun game to watch will be enough.
    • Bryce haters gunna hate.  Can't change that. Bryce has been pretty durable all things considered.  A couple minor injuries considering how much he was hammered year 1.  And he still takes hits.  Dude is tough. The play in question is a football play, poo happens.  That's ultimately what happened.  Guys running around, trying to stop Young and stuff happened.  Sucks but that's how it goes. For me, I'd rather see Young play.  He will either prove that he's the Dude, a JAG (leaning heavily right now), or an outright bust (some of you were there on draft night, lol)
    • I think we need to let the 2025 class develop. Remember at one point early during last season the 2024 class was gonna be a killer. And we had all kinds of people chirping about how the 2021 Draft was the greatest of all time. Early returns are promising. Let's hope it continues.
