Thomas Davis' career is coming to a close.

Whether that will be as soon as this weekend depends on the Washington Football Team.

The veteran linebacker said via an Instagram post Tuesday that Week 17 will be his final regular-season game. Of course, Washington (6-9) can extend its season with a win over the Eagles, which would seal the NFC East and a home playoff game.

Otherwise, it will be the final game of Davis' noteworthy, 16-year career. The first 14 came in Carolina, where the 2005 first-round pick out of Georgia made three Pro Bowls and was an All-Pro in 2015 while leading a dominant Panthers defense to the Super Bowl. Davis has accumulated 1,216 tackles, including 90 for loss, 29 sacks, 18 forced fumbles and 13 interceptions, leaving an imprint on all three levels of several strong units.

After spending the 2019 campaign with the Chargers, Davis reunited with Ron Rivera in Washington earlier this year, though he's been a healthy scratch for much of the season. Here's guessing he'll take the field at least one more time Sunday.

Happy to see the love for the Panthers on his cleats. Dude was one tough SOB. Not many people could come back from the injuries he sustained and play as well as he did. Hope he signs a 1-Day contract with us in the end. Either way I believe he deserves to be a part of the Panthers Hall of Honor.

Since i am the kiss of death around the greater Charlotte area, I was at the OTA watching TD do agility drills when he hurt the knee for the second time.  He just fell back and later, walked off the field with not much of a limp.  Later I found out that he injured it again.  I do weddings too.  Give me a call.

If I'm ever having surgery, I'd appreciate you leaving the country for a while.
