How do we feel about Matt Rhule after one season?

At first I felt ok. We were playing hard and hanging in against much better teams and even won a few games. As the year went on the coaching really seemed to drop off and now I’m not feeling all that great about a guy we just gave 60 million dollars to.  I need to see improvement next year and I think the jury is still totally out.

Thoughts?

Great.  He took a team with very little talent and no cap space and made them competitive in every single game except tonight.  Players fought hard each week.  Halftime adjustments seemed to work.  No glaring coaching mistakes.  All in all...I think he did a great job.

It takes more than one season to turn a team around. We lost a lot of close games this year, you could argue we were competitive for most of them despite missing CMC and several players who retired. I'd say the jury is still out,  but expectations next season will be much higher.

Seeing the genius Kingsbury calling a TO on 3 and 18 down on the Rams field with only 4 min left only to make their limping QB run af speed option for no yds and then punt the ball only to never get the ball back... I LOVE Rhule!

Very happy. Everyone expected 2 wins. We had a brand new coaching staff, no offseason, the highest amount of dead money by a mile. the highest turnover in the league, started an incredible amount of rookies on defense, lost our best player almost all year, played without our starting LT over half the season, and almost everyone expected us to be the worst team in the league.

We have a lot to look forward to, and many young players developed in front of our eyes this year. I believe our future is bright and that we have a good young core to build around. Now that Hurney is gone, we have a cap specialist, and are out of cap hell, I expect to be able to to take over the division in a year after we draft our next franchise QB in a few months.

I give him a B-

Team looked way better than expected early on for a 3 game winning streak and was WAY more competitive than expected. So I give him credit where credit is due.

But late in the season I think the team looked like trash, made stupid mistakes, and overall fell apart. Bridgewater should have been benched after the Minnesota loss.

I think he has potential to be really good which is all anyone can ask for in one year with subpar talent, lack of a proper offseason and everything else.

im interested to see how daring he is when we have talent and are in closer, more meaningful games when the pressure is really on to perform. He is aggressive which is a breath of fresh air.

I agree with you George, I think Rhule can be really good given the parts he needs.
