Tepper does not know how to build a winning franchise

How many does he get?

The Carolina Panthers were an existing entity when he purchased the franchise. He inherited the good and the bad. It strikes me as too early to pass judgement. I have reasons to be encouraged. I think Rhule was a good hire. Personally, I think that Brady was also a great hire and the fact that he is already being actively considered as a potential head coach is evidence of that.

I hated the Bridgewater signing and the McCaffery extension. In fairness, while he bears some personal responsibility, I suspect that these decisions were pushed by someone who is no longer here.

Also, I like the fact that Tepper really seems to be committed to the use of analytics; however, like other facets of change, it takes time to effectively implement.

Give it more time. We are all human and subject to the limitations of imperfection.

Still TBD. I get why he took an extra year to fire Ron, he really messed up by not firing Hurney at the time. If he can get out of his own way with the GM hiring then we may be good to go. That's a big IF with some of the people we supposedly like. Just like it was with the coaching search.

I like Rhule and what I know about him so far. I like what he said he wanted in a GM. I think the power dynamics takes some people off the board for us but I like the strategy of brining in a good talent evaluator that is not a yes man who challenges him.

So far, Tepper doesn't appear to have a very good football IQ. I would say that is normal for an owner. This is a huge hire for him, a huge offseadon of new direction, it could be a path to winning or a couple of wasted years.

Rhule also said he looked forward to coaching Cam Newton

Yep. Out of Tepper, Hurney and Rhule the HC was the only one who handled that right. It looked bad because Tepper fumbled it and Marty, if I remember correctly, let it hang before Rhule said that. Then we hired Ted and let go Cam. I'm not sure hom much of that I can lay at Rhule's feet. That's just correct coachspeak at a time his support was going full on stupid, as far as I know.

I mentioned this in another thread.

It took the Pegulas 7 years to figure it out in Buffalo and they had owned a professional sports team prior (NHL's Sabres).

It's taken Haslam 9 years to get Cleveland going.

In that case - we are in for a long road ahead

It’s unfair to ask someone to turn around the mess we were in just 3 years, a lot of deadcap, a broken down QB, bad previous coaching staff, aging untalented roster.  This past year is when truly made a stamp on the team by choosing his own coaching staff, so I take this past year as year 1 for him, the previous 2 he was learning.  I understand your frustration but just have a little more patience my man.

It hasn't literally been three years. The sale of the team wasn't finalized until July 9, 2018! This means that Tepper has essentially had two seasons to turn things around. Don't you realize just how much of a train wreck this franchise was from a cap perspective? It wasn't great personnel-wise as we had an older team, particularly on defense! Key players were injured and needed evaluation in reference to the future!

Sure, nail him to the cross for not coming in and taking names before he could even get his bearings if you like, but I think that it's totally rational not to do that. The man really didn't begin putting his stamp on the team until last year!

Your complaining is really premature!

    • Still trying to figure out how many targets people think a rookie WR, let alone 2, are going to get behind Johnson and Thielen. And some think we're cool at CB/DE lol. Canales knows we have to be run first with a dink and dunk QB so at some point we have to think about stopping the other team from scoring. If Horn gets injured we're out there hoping Dane Jackson and Troy Hill can play 100% of snaps smdh.
    • That's definitely my favorite one, you got my two favorite wr prospects for r2 at least . A lot of people seem to be predicting Worthy is going to the cheifs lately
