It's not fake. It's been there 10 years. All it did was tweet what Person said

It’s fake as in nothing posted on it has any bearing on reality. Just a bunch of random crap. There were a couple threads on here a few months back posting tweets from that account with some kind of big news that wound up being just blatantly wrong.

Also, that tweeter account and the initial post on this thread are two different things. The initial post website is what quoted Person. That tweet didn’t quote anyone it just threw out there randomly with no source attached that we’re high on Jones — the opposite of Person’s quote.

Based on what I've seen and the scouting reports I've read he's my favourite QB in this Draft (closely followed by Wilson [his footwork is a mess]).

He fits really well into what our offence does (short - intermediate throws stretching the field laterally with the occasional shot play to keep the defence honest) - but obviously because Lawrence / Wilson / Fields / Lance are much more athletic than him, the actual QB basics that Jones does exceptionally well are being overlooked.

If he pans out (which is always difficult to predict), I think worse case scenario is that he's Kirk Cousins. I'd take that.

Beauty is literally in the eye of the beholder. There isn't a perfect QB prospect in the Draft. For me:

Lawrence

  • + athleticism / plus arm / plus mobility / starting experience / unscripted plays
  • - missed reads / inaccuracy (worryingly so at times)

Fields

  • + athleticism / plus arm / plus mobility / unscripted plays
  • - missed reads / v. simple OSU offence (don't teach a lot of concepts you see in the NFL)

Wilson

  • + plus arm (incl. ability to throw from multiple angles) / mobility / plus accuracy / unscripted plays
  • - awful footwork

Jones

  • + Pro ready / good reads / accuracy
  • - average NFL arm / pocket passer / surrounding talent

Lance

  • + athleticism / plus arm / plus mobility / running ability
  • - glaring missed reads / footwork (which got worse in 2020) / surrounding talent / inexperience

So it literally all depends on what you're looking for in a QB - 4 of the 5 guys can literally play in any system you want. With Jones he's system specific, but that's not a bad thing.

I wouldn't want to start Lance, Fields or Wilson in Year 1. They're all going to have huge technical / mental things to work on. Of those 3 I'd be most comfortable starting Wilson as a rookie, but his footwork is baaaaad (I finally put my finger on why I'm not overly sold on him!).

    • One thing this got me thinking, is if Canales got some of the best seasons out of Baker/Geno/etc, how long before Tepper asks him his true assessment of Bryce? Obviously it has to be sometime during or after camp once pads are on
    • Here is the bottom line---if you assume that the offense was bad because Young was bad, then that position is understandable.  If you assume Young was bad because the offense was bad, that is understandable.   Personally, I think Bryce will improve a lot in 2024.   There just aren't too many rookie (or veteran) QBs who would have done well under these circumstances....full stop.  I have NEVER heard so many different experts (game announces throughout the season) analysis experts, talk so much about a team's receivers not getting separation.  Experts know how important this is because the qb has about a second to get the ball in that window--we did not have any windows.  Furthermore, we had 7 different LGs and 8 different RGs.  62 sacks, most up the middle.  So he had people in his face with no open receivers.  And people are saying, Bryce sucks!!  My question is this:  What is he supposed to do?  Make sure his plant foot is secure and he is holding the ball to his ear?
    • I mean we can't really discuss WR's or Centers or whatever without mentioning the QB situation. Not sure what the optimists are grasping at. He was incognito all offseason except for a couple celebrity camp/youth camp appearances. Thielen was in the weight room every time they put out any footage inside the building. I think being the number 1 pick and QB1 comes with more weight than just showing up a day before voluntary workouts, no pun intended. If Cam had done the bare minimum imagine how much he would have been killed on here
