Cam Newton says he “intimidated” Panthers...

I’m pretty sure Cam was referring to the same thing that ended up getting Smitty cut. The locker room was Cam’s, Rhule and Tepper didn’t want the locker room to be Cam’s. So Cam got cut. Not his shoulder, which turned out to be fine, not this mythical demand for a new contract that has never been hinted at or anything by anyone that would actually know. Just locker room politics. Cam is fine with it, I’ll be fine with it as soon as we get an acceptable replacement. But as it stands right now, it was still a mistake. Cam right now and last season was far better than Bridgewater with a more manageable contract.

also, I let that podcast play in the background.  Here is my take.

The quote like we saw many times before with Cam....sounds worse than it really was.  Overall in terms of football, Cam praised BB, McDaniel, the young players the rest tried to knock.   He didn't say anything negative or controversial about Tepper, Rhule or Ron.   Cam realizes he presents issues teams have to deal with.  Perceived personality.  Health concerns.

He talked a lot about NE being tough.  That getting COVID put him behind and no one was going to wait for him (nor should they).  Team kept it going and he returned to new language.  New plays.  A system he didn't know and basically could never catch up (no offseason and missing two weeks were brutal).

I thought the most controversial stuff was essentially everyone being pro Aaron Hernandez.

His shoulder is done. Did you watch his games last half of the season?  He acted like the football weighed 50 lbs when throwing

New England was 13th in Pass Block Win Rate and 10th in Run Block Win Rate in 2020.

The Panthers were 23rd in Pass Block Win Rate and 7th in Run Block Win Rate in 2020.

Teddy's Time To Throw was 2.6 seconds(11th in the NFL) and Cam's was 2.84 seconds(27th in the NFL)

Pat's allowed 37 sacks, Panthers allowed 36 sacks.

Cam's average PocketTime(PFR stat for amount of time before pocked collapses or the ball is thrown) was 2.6 seconds, Teddy's was 2.3 seconds.

New England allowed 48 hurries, Carolina allowed 42 hurries.

New England allowed 109 pressures, Carolina allowed 111 pressures.

I'd say the scheme probably favored us more than in New England and that our OL was definitely weaker.

Damiere Byrd was his #1 WR...ain’t really matter how good the line was

Yeah I’d say there’s some truth to it, I mean we went and signed teddy to a deal that shouldn’t have even been offered at the time. Now we are trying to move the same qb that was signed to replaced cam while eating more dead cap if a trade goes through, while not even winning more games that a severely talent depleted pats roster.....

Cam Can’t carry a bunch if udfa’s to a playoff berth anymore and that’s fine, he finished health and the shoulder looked fine he’s in a good place.

“In his mvp season he had funchess, Benjamin and olsen. A bunch of receivers with big wingspans who could bail him out”. This random nobody loses all credibility there. A) he didn’t have Benjamin that year. B) cam had never been regularly bailed out by a receiver in his career.

This rando obviously has no clue. He was also highlighting plays where cam intentionally led the guy low, a common tactic to give defenders no play on the ball.
