Russell Wilson's Camp Have Discussed Trade Destinations With SEA; Trade Could Happen, "in the near future."

The Seahawks were at their best when they had The Legion of Boom and an effective running attack.  Once Wilson got paid those two areas of Seattle's game suffered.  Though they've been competitive every year since then, the Seahawks are no longer the dominant team they once were.

Bringing Wilson to Carolina would be a significant upgrade, but at what cost?

A decent QB on a rookie contract is the way to go.  It would allow the Panthers to build a strong supporting cast of players.  We don't need another team's problems and make no mistake, Wilson wanting a say in personnel IS a Big Problem.

Bottom line: Rhule won't be buying what Wilson is selling.

Miami could actually be a good bet for him.  If Tua is factored in, maybe they don't go QB, some freedom offensively.  Devante Parker, a great young TE, solid OL foundation.

Here is my problem with Miami if they take on a new QB:

1. In early 2020, the do a lot of research on the top QBs in college football.  They take a guy who is beginning rehab from a major surgery.  That means they are sold on this guy.

2. He is a rookie who might not even play in 2020.  They knew that.

3.  His rehab goes well, but he has no OTAs, no camp, no preseason.  Fitzpatrick is the starter, but that is fine.

4. So about halfway through the season, the go with Tua based on his health.  Normally, playing a rookie QB early is not ideal, but in this case, it was INSANITY.

5.  Tua is left-handed.  Now the RT is the blind side protector.  That is significant to an OL.

And after a few bad outings, the front office decides, "You know, we need a QB...."  BS.  You need a front office

I wouldn’t mind us landing Tua some how. Moton would be protecting his blindside and I think he is going to be solid with a full offseason at 100%.

It would be a decent consolation prize. etc.  Could be the steal of the offseason--

Just heard Cowherd's opening rant. Whatever needs to be done, go get Russell. He's Brady-like with preparation and leadership.

Yes, he's campy and has re-written his departure w/ NC State (he wasn't run off- he chose baseball); but that dude is all business.

And he'll play into his mid 40s, barring injury.

I doubt the defense switches the DE's based on which arm the QB throws with. The job of the OTs doesn't change in that scenario.

Honestly, Tua in Joe Brady's offense could be great. Tua is most often compared to Drew Brees, and the Brady offense is very similar to the Saints.

I am not saying Tua is Brees, just that he has been compared.

Carroll was an unsuccessful NFL coach for a lot of years before he got to Seattle. Honestly, Carroll's base philosophies aren't all that different from Ron Rivera.

And while a say in the scheme could be considered reasonable (especially with a really smart quarterback) there's also what's described in the Athletic article. Specifically, where Wilson was struggling as a passer and Carroll wanted to go back to running more but Wilson resisted.

Most players have huge egos and are all generally going to bet on themselves.

Their advice at times might not always be the most objective.

I can see how wanting to go away from passing during struggles would be potentially upsetting to a guy that was having an MVP caliber season up to that point.

IMO, this will get smoothed over and he'll remain in Seattle. I kind of have a hard time believing it is a big rift in Seattle, more so that everyone involved is a little frustrated that in two straight seasons they struggled late in the year.

Yeah, I seriously doubt he gets traded.

    • No Pesce for remainder of 1st round. TDA draws in...I'm always worried about defensive injuries in the playoffs for the Canes. Our defensive style doesn't bode well for substitutes. Hopefully Tony plays well! LETS GO CANES.
