Just seems real strange to me that this many would come forward. Either it's one of the most elaborate defamation of character schemes ever created or there is something there. Trying to reserve judgement but one second I sit here thinking "Damn, he has done at least some of that with the amount of accusations flying" and other parts of me say "Most elaborate scheme ever to destroy someone's name". I just don't see why Texans faithful would lead a charge to destroy his name as it will hurt his trade value and could get him suspended for a very long time. Lots of bad there regardless.

just got to let it play out.   I mean you could invent a million hypotheticals at this point in any direction.

I do have a question about this situation that Mike Florio brought up..

Usually in cases like this their is more then 1 lawyer getting in on the financial benefit of civil suit.. Why hasn't some of these women gotten their own lawyers?? Why 24 victims go to the same guy when their experience with the accused could be different and may have a better chance of filing their own charges instead of being a part of a mass civil suit?? Some of these women are from different states right.. Wouldn't filing with a different lawyer in a different jurisdiction benefit some of these victims..

Whether actually guilty or not I think we all know how this will go.

In the end people will be paid off and nobody will be in trouble.

Once past all of this he will get his trade and he will play on.

That would be one heck of an outcome!

That said, your scenario would give the Texans even more leverage to keep him in Houston.

20+ payouts + attorney fees is very expensive.

Yesterday on radio Aaron Wilson (Houston Chronicle) said the fee to put Rusty Hardin (DW's lawyer) on retainer is $1,000,000...

...your scenario would incinerate a large pile of cash in rapid fashion.

"Sitting out" is becoming less-and-less palatable, and quickly --- DW is gonna need the money.

At this point, I don't think its going to play out very well for Watson.

Or the Texans for that matter.  Went from having one of the best young qb's in the league, to getting two or three first round picks for him if they follow thru on his trade demands, to the possibility of him not being able to play for a while and not getting any picks for him.

He's gonna need 24 good cases.

Two new accusers have come out.

The count for lawsuits officially filed is at 14.

The burden isn’t on Watson to prove his innocence though.  Short term he takes a hit but we know how that story goes in America.  It moves on and forgets.

and given who the attorney is (if all this is turns out to be allegations of he said she said)......all Watson’s team has to do is prove one is liar in the public square.

which is problematic in the grand scheme of their really are victims though.   And a reason why a shady lawyer can be a problem.

With each new lawsuit and each new accuser its starting to point in one and only direction.

Main thing that has me pumping the breaks on judgement is that no matter the number the allegations remain largely all the same....and via the same attorney.

clearly trade talk is paused.  Not ready to convict Watson yet.

You may not like Buzbee but he's one of less than a handful of the most capable and successful attorney's in Texas if not the United States...

...he has secured over $2,000,000,000 (that's billion, with a B) of judgements on behalf of his clients...

...was Texas Attorney of the Year in 2015 and has been featured on the cover of the New York Times Magazine.

Underestimate him at your own risk.

it isn’t underestimation.  Just acknowledging what he is and has been of late.

which is sketchy, attention seeking with political aspirations.   And it is all running through him via quickly stacked allegations that all read nearly identical.

and then you factor in Watson’s credibility and earned rep...which means you got to wait until the facts actually start coming into play before you convict him in the court of public opinion.

This is just so out of character for him and now being labeled as serially perverse with weird requests for the type of massages he wants. This reminds me of a beat down. The fact that he is getting one or two a day keeps him in the headlines. The way this is coming out is definitely a form of character assassination.

It was also ‘out of character’ for Warren Moon, who also had the same character positives. He also had several domestic violent and sexual assault charges.

Doing things like community work and going to church is often used as some sort of veil for people when it shouldn’t be. People like to think these are ‘better’ people but in reality they have little significance.

His case also went criminal, the DA took it. Problem is, so often with these type of cases, and as I’ve been saying, when the victim all of a sudden refuses to cooperate, there really is no way to prosecute.

But that was one woman. We are now talking possibly 24. Huge difference. It will be interesting if the case is taken criminally, as I expect it to be. At that point it’s all about the criminal case, the civil will probably just sit on the back burner.

If the DA/jury deem it worthy to go criminal, the evidence is there, just a matter of the victims, all 24, cooperating.

As far as having the same attorney it is something to wonder about but it’s not all that common. When you have this many alleged victims, it benefits to have an overview of all the incidents for them, the jury, the court system and the lawyers.

It’s kind of like the DuPont suit in the 90s and still going on today (though to a much lesser degree) massive payouts/judgements by the court, several victims, but really only one representing defense lawyer.

When you already have a good lawyer who is putting in the time to familiarize themselves with a complicated/high profile case, and have multiple other related - it’s not uncommon if you have a related case to go with them. This is also common with sex abuse cases.

Hiring an outside lawyer at that point would probably involve communication with Buzbee anyways. And how well that would go? Up to Buzbee. It’d be less efficient and messy.

Its not too hard to connect the dots if there are ton of Instagram and text messages that go back and forth between. Don't you think its strange to go on Instagram and hire 10+ female massagers to come to his house and give a massage? Give it time and the details will come out. Reminds me of a Bill Cosby situation where it seemed out of character for him too and then 60+ women came forward.

    • I think you're being short sighted, if you need a wr next year draft one or get one in FA.  I guarantee that if we double dip at wr and one gets 30 targets, 90% of the huddle will call him a bust and want another wideout next year
