There is a reason there was no market for Robby Anderson last year. Dj moore only player in last 2 years to go over 1,200 total yards. The guy is explosive and threat to score from anywhere on the field. Anderson faded down the stretch.

moore had 9 games of 90 or more yards compared to Anderson’s 5. There were multiple times throughout the season where teddy missed a wide open moore for huge plays. Moore had 3 games under 50 yards and got hurt in one of those games. Anderson had 6 of those games. Dj moore is a number 1 in this league. Robby Anderson is not.

D.J. Moore is the WR1 for the Panthers, getting a lot of production in pure garbage time! No one is mistaking him for the few true ones that you have in the league, save for some Huddlers. I have watched Moore for years, and he has been fairly consistent with his production and route running which means that we may be seeing his ceiling (very good in spurts, but not great)! Do you think it's coincidence that he and Robbie (and Samuel) had arguably their best years while playing together? It wasn't! He and Anderson are the types of guys that excel when playing amid talent, and are not necessarily like OBJ, Allen Robinson, Julio, or even a Keenan Allen who will get theirs regardless.

On an off note, Teddy did not play to Anderson's strength. As a matter of fact he was a hindrance to it!

Got it. So Anderson’s numbers are legit and Moore’s is just garbage time. There isn’t a single offensive player on this team that Teddy played to their strengths. Moore absolutely has the capability to be A number 1 in this league. Again he’s the only WR to have over 1,200 the last 2 years in the entire league. Is DJ moore the only player in the league getting garbage time?

Let’s bot pretend this past year was moores coming out party. He has 800 his rookie year and 1200 his second year. He didn’t have an increase in numbers because Robby Anderson joined the team. He’s the 3rd most valuable core piece on this team behind burns and chinn.

Anderson had 18 more targets than Moore, a little more than one per game. I'd argue that Samuel was his favorite target based upon his targets vs snap count, but of course Samuel was the slot man. Where Anderson eclipsed Samuel by a marked margin is in catch percentage roughly around 15 percent more completions on a relative basis.

I feel like we’re watching different games.

I watched the games--all of them! And I am receiver guy. I have already stated that Moore is the more valuable receiver. He also likely has the highest upside. Does that mean that I believe he's worth 18+ mil per year based upon 2020 if he does something similar in 2021 and Anderson does something similar in 2021 based upon his numbers? No. Anderson would clearly provide the better value. So, that means I would look for Moore's number to come down from that top money that apparently some here believes that he is supposed to get.

If Moore is supposed to be a top five or 10 receiver in the league, and all that entails as far as handling double and triple coverage with superior route running and catching the damned ball when his number is called, then I would think that all the analysts and people who crunch the numbers like PFF, Football Outsiders and Next Gen stats would give him that respect. They give him the respect of being a top 20-25 receiver in the league, and from what I've seen, they're probably about right! They don't base things simply on yardage, nor should they. You have to look at yardage within context! Now does that mean he won't get paid 18 mil+ per year? No. The market may demand it based upon circumstances. Do I think we should think about paying him that? Sure. Do I think that we should pay him that based upon his play and progress here based upon his first few years? No! He's going to have to manifest his progress and earn that type of money in 2021!

Saying moore had his best season because of Robby Anderson is actually hilarious.

It's actually not, because you know damned well that he wouldn't have, but for the threat of Anderson on the other side (and Samuel in the middle if you get right down to it).

i mean this is factually wrong since he put up similar numbers without Robby Anderson abs will Grier and Kyle Allen throwing him the ball. But hey we will just agree to disagree. I can only hope the panthers front office agrees with me and not you.

DJ does more with less targets, is a better deep threat than Robby, is better after the catch that Curtis, and is the youngest of the bunch. Only reason Robby got more targets earlier in the year was bc he and Teddy worked out in the off-season and they had a comfort level. Eventually the games and your eyes proved what was clear and DJ got more targets. And he did more with em, the ypc was high for a reason.

Will Grier hasn't played enough to count for anything. Allen can throw, he just throws to the wrong team way too much.

Just so you don't get it twisted, I think Moore is worth an extension, just not as a top 5 receiver in the league, because his play nor his relative progress earned that type of money IMO.  I think that at this point the Panthers FO would probably agree with me, and will not pay him as a top 5 or 10 receiver in the league unless he ups his level of play in 2021. At that point, I'd be willing to give him that type of payday too. At this point, I'm not!

Only WR in league with 1,200 total yards each of last two seasons? lol?

Judging a WR by this oft-mentioned stat in the Huddle is simplistic. No analyst in the NFL would do such. Not only should you consider the context, but more importantly you have to look at the ability to consistently beat the press, run crisp, concise routes, excel at a variety of routes, and catch the ball. D.J. is outstanding at some of these things, and ok to fair at others. The major players in advanced analytics think there are roughly 20 better receivers in the NFL based upon 2020. I tend to agree, but Moore is younger than most of these guys, so that increases his value in theory and probably practical terms. I don't know why you guys can't see that, but it's not a big deal.

But, yeah, I thinks it's very humorous that you think Moore is  going to be the highest paid receiver in the league when he hasn't earned that honor.

DJ weakness is scoring TDs. That is the money maker. Im cheap, tagging is available. Thats the route Id go, you can do it 3 years in a row. Im not big on paying any non-QB 20+ million unless Aaron Donald is a FA.

Dave may done the panthers a favor by signing Galloway to that deal, Id offer that, firm offer to Moore right now.

    • LOL, yeah UNC/ACC bet on the “wrong horses” in VT and Miami.  Good take.
    • I don't know who the fug Dan Wolken is but he ain't wrong.  Hubert has to get over his hero ball obsession. If that means RJ can't come back for a 5th year so be it. But the man is so obviously reliant on a "go-to guy" and he absolutely cannot adapt on the fly when the designated go-to guy is having an off night. His TEAM was red hot in the first half but his entire 2nd half game plan delivered around getting his go-to guy going and his go-to guy gunned us right out of the game.
