Panthers trade for Sam Darnold

This move wouldn't have been made if our brass could keep their mouths shut and not talk poo about Teddy. Like he sucks but until you have something better in the house just STFU. They were forced to move on.

Now they made a lateral move and lost picks in the process.

The "he's a reclamation project!" is just the same cope as "he was good with the Saints last year". He's another Josh Rosen.

Lol at whining about next year’s second. I’m not real big on Darnold but he’s young and no one succeeds on the Jets. If he’s good, then it’s a steal, if he’s bad then at least he’s still better than Bridgewater. And we didn’t give up much for him. Next year’s second ain’t that valuable

Not sure if y’all watched any Jets games this year...but while Darnold wasn’t great, the offense came to a grinding hault when he was out.  The talent and coaching in NY was terrible.  I for one am excited to see Darnold in our offense with our weapons and coaching and think he will thrive!

A QB that's halfway decent and coachable with an above average NFL caliber arm with our stacked offense throws for 30 tds. The worst trade ever, for a fugging 6th? Sigh... this was a good trade. Even 28 tds next year is well worth the 2022 2nd rounder. I'm pretty sure this becomes a steal.

I would’ve gladly traded a 2, 4, 6 to move up for someone who can be truly special at the QB position rather than settling for long shot game manager

this may be the worst move this team has ever made, if one of these QBs goes on to be great, and at least one certainly will, we will always have to sit back and wonder what could’ve been

In what world do you think it only costs a 2nd, 4th and 6th to move up from 8?

If by lateral you mean huge improvement. At his worst Darnold is better than Teddy. And one of them looked ok on a stacked team, the other has looked a little less than ok on one of the worst teams of the past three decades.

    • One thing this got me thinking, is if Canales got some of the best seasons out of Baker/Geno/etc, how long before Tepper asks him his true assessment of Bryce? Obviously it has to be sometime during or after camp once pads are on
    • Here is the bottom line---if you assume that the offense was bad because Young was bad, then that position is understandable.  If you assume Young was bad because the offense was bad, that is understandable.   Personally, I think Bryce will improve a lot in 2024.   There just aren't too many rookie (or veteran) QBs who would have done well under these circumstances....full stop.  I have NEVER heard so many different experts (game announces throughout the season) analysis experts, talk so much about a team's receivers not getting separation.  Experts know how important this is because the qb has about a second to get the ball in that window--we did not have any windows.  Furthermore, we had 7 different LGs and 8 different RGs.  62 sacks, most up the middle.  So he had people in his face with no open receivers.  And people are saying, Bryce sucks!!  My question is this:  What is he supposed to do?  Make sure his plant foot is secure and he is holding the ball to his ear?
    • I mean we can't really discuss WR's or Centers or whatever without mentioning the QB situation. Not sure what the optimists are grasping at. He was incognito all offseason except for a couple celebrity camp/youth camp appearances. Thielen was in the weight room every time they put out any footage inside the building. I think being the number 1 pick and QB1 comes with more weight than just showing up a day before voluntary workouts, no pun intended. If Cam had done the bare minimum imagine how much he would have been killed on here
