By the end of the draft we will be contenders here, just like last year. Maybe they finally get their golden ticket but I can't bet on Sam yet. His upside is demolished by his downside. The same people hating on draft prospects for being bad at reading a defense now think Sam is going to make that leap in year 4 in the NFL? Maybe but damn if it's not funny.

I hope we take a QB in the draft and better our odds. If we go into 2021 like we did in 2020 with all the eggs in one basket I fear a repeat.

Yeah, that's the thing.....if you hate on Fields or Lance for not being ready, this dude has three seasons of NFL reps and STILL isn't ready. Honestly, not many guys get this deep in and just suddenly "figure it out." I suspect this will be a problem his entire career.

I don't know how many people read the ESPN article about the Goff/McVay saga but they mentioned in there that one thing that caused McVay to sour on Goff was that he struggled to process the reads at the rate that Sean thought he should. I think that probably happens more than we realize when some of these guys fail.

Desperation makes people to do terrible things. The worst part of all of this is after last year it drags into question the QB evaluation skills if we are going all in on win now mode, unofficially until it starts working of cousrse, yet we are rellying on another guy who will likely be what he has always been. We could have waited until the Jets drafted his replacement and got a better price. Will we have an option B or just wait it works or falls apart and look surprised we didn't make a diamond out of a lump of coal.

Yeah, I think we did start to get desperate after the first three options clearly weren't going to happen(Stafford, Watson, trade up). I don't blame them for not wanting to pay a mega price to move up in the draft either. That is really betting a LOT on your evaluation of a prospect. 

The thing that really makes me scratch my head is picking up that 5th year option.

Sometimes doing nothing is the better path. I know it's a crazy offseason with the 49ers trading up to 3 that far before the draft but talking about Sam heavily in February raises all kinds of flags. It all just feels like rookies not doing anything in an experienced manner.

It's almost like they still have not learned. I am guessing the thought process was it was cheaper to take the 5th year vs what they would have paid him in a new contract, which is very optimistic.

      According to ESPN stats, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 24th in the league in motion at the snap, only using it 14% of the time. The team does employ motion before the snap quite frequently, though, as it runs motion %43.7 of the time in general. When asked specifically about motion at the snap, Bucs offensive coordinator Dave Canales confirmed that it's in Tampa Bay's arsenal and that it can be a big help on offense. "It's a part of what we're doing," Canales said. "It allows us to stretch the defense horizontally. All you're trying to do is create a moment of indecision for the defense and then that helps the run game, helps the pass game. Switching the responsibilities to create free-access releases at the line, that's a big part of it." Tampa Bay's low percentage of using this type of play doesn't mean that it won't increase in the future, though. Canales said that while some teams are doing a great job at implementing it in their offense, others like the Bucs are catching up to speed. He mentioned that he first saw heavy usage of pre-snap motion when he was with the Seattle Seahawks and played the Los Angeles Rams twice a year. "[The Los Angeles Rams] really utilized that from the time Sean [McVay] had been there in LA. It's something that's been around for a while, and I think that the rest of us are learning how to utilize it."

      Yea Falcons should (and hopefully will) get slammed hard for this tampering business. But even without that, Kirk Cousins is solid but the team still isn’t good. Their O is super overhyped based on college production. The RB they got last year looks good but he’s no Barkley or CMC. Their young WR and TE are dookie no matter how much people wanna hype them based on their college days. (And by dookie I mean compared to expectations. They’re mid, objectively).
