DJ Moore: Only current WR with consecutive 1100+ yard seasons?

Lol who cares about the Pro Bowl. I guess we shouldn’t re-sigh Brian Burns either right?

LMAO...

Brian Burns led the NFC in fan voting for best edge rusher while splitting time between 2 different positions in only his second year in the league.

DJ Moore was voted most likely to hit 76 yds in the air and 1.5 on the ground per game going into his contract year. Surely, you can see the difference.

If he's borderline top 10 at his position, what other players can we say that about?

McCaffrey, Moton.... (insert noone)..

I dont think anyone called him a generational All-Pro.. BUT you have to give the man his credit. Especially when you factor in the amount of receptions. Now imagine his numbers if he had Brees and we actively force fed him the ball ...i.e.. Michael Thomas who had 149 receptions for 1725 yds in his best year.

For comparison. Moore had 66 receptions for 1139 yards last year alone.

I'd definitely add Burns to that list. JJ Jansen probably has apretty good argument... lol

But, to me that speaks to the overall paucity of talent on our team at the moment. Statistically, with the number of positions and teams, each team should have 6 or 7 any given year.

I just don't want to end up in another Shaq Thompson situation. Stuck paying an above average player top 5 money because we're mismanaged contracts on a bad team.

You have to be blind to not see the talent Moore has. His QBs have both been bad and also not good at taking advantage of his best skill

What a stupid debate. You obviously re-sign DJ Moore. Why even have 1st round picks if you only want to re-sign only the absolute elite? Sorry Moore ain’t Hopkins but he’s still great.

Alright dude, I believe you. You were clearly the only person I could've seen post one of the 2 original stats. Spare me the network forensics.

Moving on to your next point, you're right.  I typed starter when in my head I was thinking a teams top WR. I should've said X Receiver.

I do consider Moore a top tier starting NFL receiver. But, as a number one guy (which is the role he has had since the day he was drafted) he leaves something to be desired. I don't see teams gameplanning to take him away, or rolling coverages his way when they don't.

Maybe we just have different definitions of elite. I would have a hard time calling any WR who gets beat out by a TE in a 16 game season elite.

I said he’s borderline elite. I won’t declare a receiver elite while still on a rookie contract.

If you can't understand the point, you certainly can't understand context. That's why you keep making poo up and using hyperbole, straw man fallacy, or outright lies to address a point that's not even the point of the thread. If the only thing that you can do is continue the bullsh¡t, then I'm talking to you.

Not a fan of YAC, huh?  That kinda sucks.

Haha of course I am. I’m not saying he’s bad and I’d easily agree with the fact that he’s lightyears above KB, Funchess, Colbert, etc. My point is solely regarding his current impact on games and whether it warrants him being paid like a top receiver. In my opinion which seems to be the minority is that if he continues to have the same impact on our games, I wouldn’t pay what I foresee him asking for.

Am a I rooting for that outcome? Hell naw...I’m hoping him and Darnold kill it together and he’s worth every dime we pay him. At this point, I’m just not agreeing with the notion he’s some spectacular talent.

So if you make it 1175 AND exclude TE's, then it is technically true. So, what? What does that tell us?

His 2 year average puts him 5th among WRs. But 1 of only 2 in the top 10 to play all 32 games. The other? Allen Robinson. That's his comparison.

His per game average over the past 2 seasons puts him somewhere in the teens. Right around... Allen Robinson.

More important is the fact he did this with Allen and Bridgewater as his QBs. Give him a legit arm...

I don’t get why some feel it’s so important to knock this guy down a peg. He’s had horrible QB, put up very good numbers regardless, yet still has posters talking about how he’s overrated. It’s honestly nonsense

Fair enough.  I can respect that take.

You nailed it...Everyone around the league knew Smitty was a true #1 who made an impact day in and day out. He was a true difference maker. DJ is straight but nobody outside of our fan base is pounding the table that he’s a true difference maker yet the next contract he asks for will without a doubt be top dollar. This is not a “hating on DJ” comment or me being ungrateful. This is a bang for your buck statement. On his rookie deal, yes we are getting a great deal. But paying top dollar for the impact he’s actually made for our offense would be terrible.

Interesting -- and somewhat ironic -- that you should invoke the name of Smitty in this discussion.

Smitty was a downfield threat, on any play -- because he had Jake as his QB, who could get the long ball to him.  Moore is not that threat (yet) for the inverse of that statement.  Hell, even Robby Anderson (who'd be catching lots of 50  yard bombs from Jake) couldn't be the downfield threat he should have been last year.

To carry my argument further, just imagine, if you can, that Smitty's career would've been restricted by the limitations of Bridgewater throwing him 12 yard outs.  My guess is, he would've punched him out in frustration.

I shouldn't be commenting in such a moronic thread, but I hated to hear Moore's accomplishments -- in the glaring light of his limited opportunities -- be besmirched.

I think DJ is damn good but I don't see him as a too WR in the league yet at all. I would  like to see him with a QB that can really get him the ball and is more of a gunslinger but I unfortunately don't feel Darnold will be it either. He has loads of potential. He is nowhere near as dominant or a force as Steve Smith was but nobody is like that little short monster was so can't ever expect to see that again in anyone I guess unfortunately. So far DJ definitely deserves a second contract but definitely not tops in the league. It will be interesting to see what he does this year. I don't believe he had a lot of chemistry with Teddy and don't know judging by his past in the league if Darnold is capable of getting him the ball but I sure hope I'm wrong.

First off, I'm about tired of some of you not getting the point. We're not kids here. The point is should we re-sign Moore at somewhere presumably near 18-20-ish mil per year (maybe more with market inflation).

The Giants paid Kenny Golladay 18 mil a year. The next best offer for his services  was reportedly  between 11-12 million. The Giants overpaid when no one else was willing to even get close to that!

It is my opinion that Moore is a good receiver. His production has been good (and, no, I'm not going to split hairs about QBs because most receivers have to play with imperfect QBs). D.J. has been good, but not great. That's just what it is. "Great" in reference to Moore can only be found on the Huddle. He's a good receiver that opposing DCs aren't overly concerned with game planning for at this point in his career. Whether he'll take another step remains to be seen, but if he does, he's going to have to improve upon his route running, and make himself a more consistent target. He only has 10 TDs in three years! You can't attribute all of that to QB play. Being that he is good, he deserves a good contract, just not a great one. If he comes out and dominates games consistently this coming season and has a season like Golladay in 2019 or maybe even a Justin Jefferson 2020 type of season, then we can talk about that great money, but if his 2021 season is the same as his last three, then you have to ask, "Are we going to pay D.J. top dollar even though he's never played to top-dollar level?" For me, it's as simple as that!  if you guys don't like it--well I would prefer that you actually understand the argument--tough! We don't have to agree on everything, but at least try and understand the argument.

^ Can’t believe this dude doesn’t want to bring up QB play into the picture but doesn’t seem to remember DJ Moore being wide open in the end zone running to the left and Teddy B outright missing him to the point DJ had to jump and spin to try and catch a TD pass from 4 yards away and got hurt. When speaking of WRs you should absolutely also consider who the QB is.

As far as Moore being labeled great anywhere else… sure the Huddle is the only place you will find those references if this is the only place you come to. People on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit also talk about him being great and being held back by awful QB play.

There is no way you live in this much of a bubble that you believe what you just wrote.
