2021 Mock Draft Report 5.0: Sam Darnold trade shakes things up

I wonder why? I would take Sewell over Slater all day

Slater is damn near perfect in every aspect of the game except his measurables. He's more polished than any tackle in his class and almost anyone you'll find coming out of college. If we were looking for guy to toss inside I'd argue him over Sewell but his short arms do make him a bit of a gamble on the edge.

That's all overblown though in my opinion. He's taken everything thrown at him including a great performance against NFL ROTY Chase Young. I think Sewell's potential is too good to pass up but we should all be very happy if it's Slater.

Slater is far more polished.

Sewell is a better athlete, but his technique needs A LOT of work. He has huge bust potential imo.

Haven’t we used the word ‘pivoted’ enough during the coronavirus to be good for the next century or so?

If I hear it one more time at work I’m going to punch myself in the dick

Generational is mine.

This is Kiper's latest. This would be a terrible decision. I would be throwing things at my TV if this happens.

You either take Slater or (my preference) Fields. I think Mel was just trying to get Fields to NE because that would generate more interest/views/clicks.

you draft Fields if that plays out

I'd like to nominate "unprecedented times" and "out of an abundance of caution."

If I never hear about 'phases' or a 'phrased approach' again, I'll be thrilled.

NFL.com.   I'd trade with Denver get an extra pick and still get Sewell.

ESPN.com Kiper is an idiot if Fields is still there at 8 we either take him or trade down for him. Plus if we stay at 8.  Slater or Surtain makes more sense.

CBSSports.com  I like the trade with Washington but would rather have Cosmi or Farley. Plus they don't mention what other compensation we get from Washington.  I would assume a 2022 1st round pick.

PFF I like the Slater pick but someone is going to try for Jones before they get to New England.  I'd trade with New England and pick up an extra pick.

The Draft Network is the same as PFF but instead of New England it's Washington.

I am sure that if we wanted to trade down we can BS Washington or New England into believing someone is trying to move up for Jones.   They'll trade.

I am hoping Jones at 3, Lance at 4 and Slater at 5.  Unlocks crazy options for us.

Jones at 3 is huge-starting to think it will be Fields, but who knows?  Id love for Atlanta to go with a pass rusher, but they could trade back and do that.  I am guessing a team like Denver moves up to #4....Stay tuned...and they will draft Lance or Fields (if SF takes Jones).

Trade back to 12-15, collecting and extra 2nd rounder, and still grab one of the best CB in the draft.  Spend both 2nd rounders on OL.  Very deep OL draft

I like trading back to 12-15 if Sewell isnt there, but we absolutley need a LT in the first.  Slater or Darisaw should still be on the board at that point.

In Dane Brugler's latest mock draft, Sewell is taken one pic ahead of us. We take Slater (FYI: with Fields still on the board).

Other picks include Richie Grant in the second and Shi Smith in the fourth.
