LOL Yikes.  OK - so thats not so great.  They just REALLY wanted him off this roster.  Not that I blame them, but damn - eating 17 mil in dead cap is not cash money.

Ouch.

Reminds me of the Moneyball scene.

We're paying Bridgewater $7 million to play against us.

doesn't look like they took on the contract.

Denver paying 3M.  Carolina paying 7M.

So Carolina will be paying the bulk of his salary in Denver and taking a 17 m dead cap hit at home lol.

Yeah so seems like in terms of total value to the team it's not much different than releasing him. We just valued the 6th round pick over the minimal cap space. I would've rather traded a late pick to get a team to take his whole contract but whatever.

More info... the panthers cleared about $5-6M in cap this year and roughly 26M in next year's cap

That's what I'm seeing. We gained $5.9 mil this year.  Eating 17 mil that was going to him anyways.

Then next year the salary floodgates are opened.

It was this or a post-June 1st cut.  Am actually surprised we got this done, was sure he was going to just get cut eventually.
