I wonder how you guys/gals would react to this idea...

If the Panthers want to bring in competition, young competition at that, for Sam. Maybe they instead should focus draft capitol on other positions of need in the draft by trading back and maybe grabbing a young QB in the process (Gardner Minshew, Drew Lock) if a QB prospect like Lance were to fall into a teams lap.

Thoughts?

It's really not about brining in competition. It's a belief that one QB in this class, not named Trevor Lawrence, can be a special, elite, franchise altering kind of QB. If he's there, you take him regardless of who else is on the roster. If he's gone, you take the next best player on your board at whatever position that is (OT, CB, etc.)

If they're sold on Darnold, why do they need extra security? Instead of taking a QB for security, the team would be better served by taking a player that would help protect him, give him a weapon, or since they are talking up CBs, shore up the secondary.

I said THEY must be sold on Darnold to trade back. I think they are crazy to think Darnold is the answer so IMO they should draft a falling QB (not Mac) if they are there at 8 for security. If they only QB left by 8 is Mac then draft BPA.

Why are we freaking out over Verge saying we are taking Jones if he is there at 8? She said the Niners are gettting him at 3.

look, you can't stop the freakouts.  No one can.

and Verge might have great intel....but no franchise can actually predict how the draft unfolds.  All it takes is one to change how the board falls.

I can’t even keep up and I think that’s the point. Teams don’t want teams knowing what is real or not...

    • What?!?!?! Chark's 1,000 yard season was 4 years before he played for us and he only had 525 yards in 15 games as our #1 WR.  Dude has 3,100 yards in 7 seasons, he's the literal definition of a JAG and you think he is better than half our current WR room? T-Mac is literally already better than Chark was at his peak, which again, was years before he ever even put on a Panthers uniform, and there is a real argument to be made that XL and Coker were both better as rookies than Chark was for us in his one season here.
    • Im glad we're starting low. It's nonsensical to put us at 28 IMHO based on objective things IMHO (I think 21-24) is far more appropriate but whatever. Washington was at the bottom last year FWIW.  In 2003, Sports Illustrated said our best chance to win the division was to transfer to the ACC. In 2015, everyone wrote us off as a team that snuck into the playoffs with a losing record in 2014 and lost our best WR in TC (Kelvin Benjamin). All these videos are fodder for conversation, but this prediction has no more validity than saying the Panthers are making the SB bc we're starting the season against the Jaguars again. If Bryce plays like he did down the stretch we will end up the season just fine. This roster is much better than it has been the last 2 seasons. No one knows who any season will ultimately end up, but this team is finally being built in the right way, and the idea that this roster can't compete this year is as insane as being it was when we were gaslit in 2023 that we were a rookie QB from winning the division with that roster.
