IF we hadn’t beaten Washington

I'm not convinced though that we really only liked Trevor as far as the QBs go.  Why would we inquire about moving to 3?

I think there is a small chance we might have liked Lance, we just hid it very well.  At the very least I think we would have heavily considered Wilson if he was there.

Wasn't the moving to 3 inquiry before we got Sam?

Some people like exercise their brains and analyze what could have happened. Sometimes it helps to build intelligence for use in future scenarios.

Why do you cheer for a team that you do not participate in or have kids playing on? Do you root only for Thor in the Avengers movies? Lots of people like different things, it happens.

I know there's a whole cottage industry around the Draft, but I don't think you can sensibly analyse and predict what 32 Front Offices are going to do - especially when half of them are dysfunctional.

Reference?

Rhule had mentioned there was a top pick that he had talked to on an elevator ride and said after like a minute he mentally took him off the board because the guy didn’t fit what the team wanted.

Mmm I don't think that was Simmons. Interesting though, I had not heard that.

I think it was. There was a lot of talk about Simmons around that time that kind of matched up with what Rhule had said. Like a bunch of people came out and said “that sounds like Simmons.” Who really knows though.

I get so tired of this, "Should we have tried to win a football game?" f*cking horsesh*t conversation in all its forms.

Yes, yes would should step onto the field trying to win the f*cking game.

That's not really being discussed here.

If we didn’t beat Teddy B and the Saints the year before we definitely draft Justin Herbert.

This year if we didn’t beat Ron we could have been the Dolphins. Third overall and get a monster haul from the 49ers to move back to 12 and gotten a really good player or moved up to 6 like the Dolphins did and grabbed Sewell or Fields or Horn and still had extra picks leftover.

I have seen someone else theorize that it was Simmons as well, but I don't remember who.

Probably well before, from what I've read.

You can't do anything for future scenarios. You don't work for the team. Talking about what could have been is a waste of time, as you can't change the past. Let it go and move on with life.

Dear lord, you are posting on the same damn site that we are. How are we wasting time when we are discussing something we want to discuss? Seems like the guy who thinks he knows everyone and everything and is complaining about what other people do might want to look in the mirror, move on and live your own life. You ain’t changing my life so stop wasting your pretentious breath trying to change other people. IGAF what you think. Peace out.

While I would have loved to have Herbert in hindsight, the win over Teddy was the one that dropped us down for Burns. We got smoked in 2019 and went 0-8. Beating Teddy only cost us our 3rd rounder because we would have been 7 or 8 picks earlier and wouldn’t have had to trade up for Little. We also might have been high enough in the 4th to take Maxx Crosby (we had him in for a private visit) instead of Miller.
