Is Denzel Perryman the Carolina Panthers’ most underrated player?

Hes a helluva upgrade over Whitehead and Carter, although Carter is a good back/rotational guy.

Kind of hard to be great when the shadows of Luke are still on the field.  We were spoiled for 8 years with an amazing linebacker.

No matter how well he does everyone is going to wish Luke was still there.

Perryman does quality as a pretty significant upgrade at a position that was a point of need for us.

Jermaine Carter did a respectable enough job at middle linebacker once Tahir Whitehead was finally benched last season. That said, Perryman has a far more impressive resume, notably his skills around the ball.

Perryman is a quality linebacker who should definitively improve our young defense that needs a little more experience.

Perryman's biggest issue is health. If he can stay healthy, I think he can become a guy we keep around and plays well for us.

It's Haason Reddick by a landslide. We have a guy on the roster who had 12.5 sacks last season - literally the 4th most sacks in the NFL last season - and virtually no one is talking about him. Wild.

Most of his sacks were in one game. I don’t know how consistently he performed the rest of the season.

True he wasn't ultra consistent. If he was, we would have had to pay more.  That said ... He didn't start until week 6, had 7 games with at least 1 sack (5 as a starter), 3 games with forced fumbles, and 16 qb hits.  So he was getting to the QB more than just one game.

    • I don't know where the idea hes a alcoholic comes from. Hes a college kid probably leaving a party and got wasted. doesnt mean he does that every day of his life and if any of you played sports in college you know it would almost be impossible to function that way. classes in the morning, positional meetings maybe 2 a day practices and study if any... like you would be drunk in one of those and it wouldnt go un noticed. That said guy is a starter. i would take him in the 3rd and not look back.. hes not there in the 4th 5th round your not finding starting calilber surefire talent after the 3rd.

    • I think Thielen would be fine in a vertical offense where slot play isn't prioritized and essentially is a later read.  In a dink and dunk offense.....the slot is prioritized different.  I don't care what they are selling a disgruntled Johnson.  The X isn't going to be the main target/look for Bryce.  He can only run the slant so many times before defenses sit on it and take that away.  Then what's Bryce going to do over there.
