Six division titles and 2 conference championships and eight playoff appearances...and never back to back winning seasons.

tbh, I really don't care about that stat.  I'd rather have SB's sprinkled in there than be what the aints have been the last 5 years.

If you told me we could win the SB this year but would then have losing seasons for the next decade... I’m taking that deal. I just want to see us win one in my lifetime.

One thing all SB winning teams have in common... back to back winning seasons.

Apparently the Saints and Bucs being awful thirty or forty years ago is enough for some people to feel better about those two rivals having 3 trophies between them before we even have consecutive winning seasons.

The Buccaneers having two super bowl trophies is one of the most flukey things in sports. They're Lions/Jets tier 99% of the time but have somehow got lucky twice.

You mean the SB, right?

... Not the most severe sanctions in the NFL history, and among the most severe punishments for in-game misconduct in North American professional sports history, including a suspension for a year, a team  $500,000—the maximum fine permitted under the league constitution...you know, for the cheating they did to get that trophy.

BTW...

The Saints were started in 67.  They  had 20 consecutive seasons without a winning record or qualifying for the playoffs. They earned their first winning record and postseason berth in 1987, while their first playoff win would not occur until 2000, their 34th season.

If we were the  aints, we wouldn't even had a playoff win until 2029.

Then they cheated to get their trophy.

I approve of this message.

fug the Saints in their swamp donkey buttholes.

I'm not sure I can agree. They built the core of that team up through the draft and added pieces intelligently in free agency and now they are primed for a repeat with a still very stacked roster. I hate it but if we want to get closer to another trophy we must do the same and stop bragging about having the highest paid at whichever position like that counts for free wins.

X's and O's and some quality drafting. We know about Payton on a personal level and the bounty scandal. He still knows how to coach. We can sit around crying about how unfair it is or we can build a better team and get back to beating them 🤷‍♂️

I was thinking about this the other day.

Why does everyone always give all the credit to Payton and not Loomis and Carmichael?     They were there as long as Payton?  Why does everyone think that Payton is the secret sauce?  His demeanor?

On drafting I can agree. But counterpoint Panthers fans have long regarded Loomis as in over his head with the salary cap. The Saints are consistently either over the cap or straddling it last minute. I guess we can't have it both ways. Either he knows what he is doing or he doesn't right?

If you're talking about the draft, that's Ireland more than it is Loomis.

That's fair.

I was thinking the whole thing, always over/near the cap, but magically making space when they need to.  Now this year they actually had to take some hits, but years past, they just restructure and renegotiate.

I'm not saying Payton has no value.  I just think he gets too much credit for everything...draft, cap, offense etc.

They have the most stable management, possibly in the league.

I wouldn't at all. One great season and a Superbowl win would be awesome but that would just raise expectations. Then to have  losing seasons for the next decade. That would be awful. Honestly I would rather have winning seasons every year and lose in the playoffs and at least be in the hunt. Of course I want it all with winning seasons and a Superbowl  but if I have to choose give me the consistent winner.
