REPORT: No movement in Panthers’ talks w/ Taylor Moton

Taylor is tremendous, and so is Ryan. I don’t think there is too wide of a gap between those guys, when you put on the tape. But I like Gantt, and he does speak from the heart.

He’s here this year on the franchise, and I wouldn’t be shocked if the team feels a little liberated that they can groom Brady Christiansen into that role on a rookie deal.

Of course, there are no guarantees about that, and that might not even be the plan. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s crossed their mind.

Oh I love Gnatt as well, he’s great, I just thought it was interesting.

And having Brady around for a year while Taylor is on the tag could definitely offer flexibility. I think the sentiment stems from the instability at LT, and POTENTIALLY letting Taylor hit free agency next season without that situation being sorted out is going to be a hard pill for a lot of people to swallow.

It’s funny how a lot of people here think that  the solution to our LT problem is to throw $20 million a season to a RT.

I always wondered why Moton didn’t try to slide to LT years ago if he’s really interested in top dollar.  I guess he’s insecure about his abilities on the left side. Better to be a dominant RT than a mediocre LT. I get it, I guess.

I think that had a lot more to do with Ron Rivera than it did Taylor Moton.

I don't see him as an issue or a weak link in the grand scheme. Looking at pff which is obviously loved or despised here based on which way the wind blows says he is not the same player he was in Denver. For where we are now that's okay he is serviceable for our needs. But it is a 17 game season so it is simply being realistic to point out he has missed time in the past.

First you say "Paradis is an aging temporary solution who has had struggles staying healthy."

He is 31, definitely not aging. Not anymore in the NFL. Strike one.

He has been here 3 years. definitely not temporary. Strike two.

He missed 7 games in 18, that's it. Definitely not struggling to stay healthy as you attest. Strike three.

If you can be that wrong in one sentence. Why should I entertain any other thing you say?

Now you add that post. Way to backpedal, smooth move. Maybe not an outright lie, but you stretched the truth so much it needs ben gay.

Stick to harping on the LT spot. At least you are good at that.

What about it is inaccurate? If he is healthy we can get by for the moment but it isn't a guarantee at all. Carolina didn't think Ryan Kalil would be done as quickly as he was but at 33 that was it. Gross was done at 33 as well. That's how it goes in sports.

    • The issue is there's 16 games worth of tape on Bryce Young. His bad habits are going to be immediately amplified if he reverts to them. Defenses are waiting for it. Also as another poster above rightly pointed out. He's got to start putting some oomph on these passes. That's also on tape. That's why us fans and his first GM who was fired wanted him to get into the weight room at any capacity but he took time off to do nothing. Whatever happens it won't be for a lack of trying. I think Dave Canales is the right hire to work with a QB like Bryce. The issue is we have no idea if he is the right hire to fix the overall offense and team or how he will handle that level of responsibility on gamedays with only one year of coordinating. I think this is either going to go really well or it's going to spiral. For all the talk of how bad Reich was and yes he was we really got much worse after he was fired and that's what Canales is inheriting. All of this is why I say it is important we have another young QB around just in case. Even a UFA. Also drafting a center for Bryce or whomever. We just need something anything to build on. Sustaining drives and getting into the end zone more often should be goals 1-3. We were h-o-r-r-e-n-d-o-u-s.
    • What Morgan should be focusing on it getting the best players from the draft group that is available to him this year. If that happens to be a defensive player he shouldn't pass on the guy just because he needs offensive talent. Especially if what's available for offensive help is not on the same level of said defensive player. It just comes down to who's still on the board when he picks. Not every position need can or will be addressed in this draft. It simply will not happen because no team is that lucky for one thing and this team is in bad, really bad shape. Secondly, no draft is filled with enough talent to allow for any team to walk away with more than one possible starter and one or two contributors in any one draft. I think everyone needs to curb their expectations about this year's draft.
