< 3.5% of the total cap…combined. Maximizing Reddick/Burns in 2021.

And the team that he did all that for had no desire to pay that bargain price to keep him. What happens when he has to stop the run?

It’s not an invalid question, sir. The staff has plenty to figure out. Should be an interesting season. Enjoyed the conversation.

Again, the gentleman pointed out here, he is correct: the cap hit on Reddick for this year is low because the contract is structured as such.

Unless my old eyes are failing me again, Reddick, in terms of “cash spent” for 2021, is ranked 47th out of all edge rushers.

That’s a bargain based on his production, and burns is still a bargain based on his rookie deal. That was the whole point: maximize that value now. If Carolina can get a pair of double digits sack seasons out of those two, on those contracts, that’s a great job. And there’s no reason to believe it won’t happen, given their performance record.

At the start of FA, panthers had roughly 100 million in space for next season (2022). Its seems one of tools the team of Frisenessr and Sal used was to "borrow" form the 2022 in order to sign a few FA in this super weird FA period. Reddicks contract was one that spread out his cap number over 5 years to get that super low 2021 number. But in a "way" use the roll over trick to justify "borrowing" form the 2022. Around 24 in cap space right now, if they only use 4 mill between now and the end of the year....20 million could be added to 2022, which is around 45 million right now. Thus you "only" borrowed 35 million form the 2022, rather than 60+.

Do you have a Cap notification on your phone? Every thread that even mentions Cap, and they you are.

Do you do this for every team? Or are we the only one who gets to revel in your brilliance?

I just can't believe you aren't working for an actual NFL team. Not here with us mere mortals. Surely there must be something better you could be doing with all that knowledge? Maybe teaching?

I like watching train wrecks. And Since I had to watch Cam play for this pitiful organization for the better part of a decade, and never discussed him at all, I have earned the right to state an opinion once in awhile. You just don’t like it because it’s usually right. And it’s all on here for proof. Just like your years of whining about how every move the team makes is perfect, but the Panthers pick top 10 on the reg. Do you have negative facts about team notification on yours. Because you have spent years doing the same thing and being wrong all the time.

I actually enjoyed this conversation. Thank you for enlightening me with your perspective, it’s always good to hear different viewpoints.

I didn’t mean it to attack anything. I just thought you would like to know there was more to it if you were putting your name on it. Meant no disrespect as I’ve enjoyed your takes for years.

I knew there was more to it, I was just trying to simplify it for the sake of simplifying it. Redick’s contract is extremely reasonable.

But there are some quirks to it, and those had been explain to me a while back. I appreciate you making that a part of the conversation here.

After reading your posts for way too long. The only part in that whole thing that was even close to true, was your opening sentence.

It still begs the questions; Do you have "Caps" on your notifications? Why are you here? Did you send out your resume' to any actual NFL teams?

Ok. Over the last 4 years. Pick any move or discussion point about this team and we can see what each of us said on the subject. Any you want. Find one where I was wrong. Or find anything that has you saying anything the team did was a mistake.

You want to call me a liar, prove it. It’s all right on here. Tell me specifically what isn’t true in my statement above.

And the Cap involves facts that can’t be denied by the “sunshine and puppies” crew who think a person hates the player personally if you comment he makes too much.

Toomers has a good handle on the every changing complex cap stuff. Its a forum and all, sometimes a post comes across as ___________ when the intentions where not that at all. Toomers kissed and made up with ellis, simple misunderstanding.

Oh, yeah, he's a peach. He's never condescending, nor overly critical. He's just a Capologist...with an attitude. Reread his posts in this thread.

He came into @ellisthread, and basically told him he was doing it wrong. Kept at it, until @ellishad to apologize. For his own thread.

Yeah, he's a peach alright.

Does that mean we will likely sign Reddick long term since its structured that way?

    • You’re not wrong but if he performs on the field I’ll take that over Bryce’s garbage any day. Not that I think they’re anything alike but people love talking poo about Cam, Baker and Burrow’s personalities too. Doesn’t matter as long as they stay out of trouble and produce results. Time will tell where Caleb falls on the spectrum.
    • They act as if this is a game of musical chairs.  Corbett needs to be able to do the job.  He is 29 and learning a new position.  I am confident that they are confident, but I do not think this rules out drafting a C late.   I should note that Cade Mays was at different schools and played various positions.  I think if he is given one position and learns as much as possible this year, he could be better than most here envision.  I just don't get spending $150m at G, a $30m RT, and a first round draft pick LT and then saying, "Let's experiment at C"  They must have more information than we do.
    • yeah, I'm super hard on Bryce.  But he is likeable in the end.  He didn't complain at all despite their being tons to complain about if you were him last year.   And he dusted his little self off over and over last year.  I think if he fine tunes a lot and gets help....he can be a decent player.   The Panthers setup the expectations out of reach w/ the trade IMO.  #1 overall already comes w/ near unrealistic expectations.  Huge trade just added even more.  He doesn't have the tools to live up to the spot they essentially put him in.  Which isn't really a Bryce thing in the end but a Carolina thing.  The assets in the end put up beside what he will be is never going to look good on paper.
