Texans now indicate Deshaun Watson is available for trade

That was somebody "playing hardball" with Watson. His reputation was fine until this sort of class action round up of "accusers" before his public statements of not returning wanting a trade not showing for camp.

He was an outstanding guy before he got out of line. He's back in line now. Isn't he?

Everyone has his day in court to face the charges . We should wait and see how Darnald plays before looking at another QB .  Watson needs to redeem his image and we need to look at all of our options before paying a high price that would hamper our chances later .

His public image was "outstanding".  This often bears no relation to the actual person.

We still lack a significant amount of overall experience. That is an issue, IMO. That applies to the coaches and players, really.

Even if you were to drop Watson into our roster for zero cost, I think we are a little bit away from being a SB caliber team.

If this draft class turns out to be a big hit, I think that will change.

Honestly, I do too. But if you put an MVP caliber QB on this roster we'd make some serious noise as long as our OL proved serviceable.

Yeah, aside from the QB, that OL is just such a glaring roster weakness. It's stark.

And this is under the assumption that the rest of our offseason moves were mostly successful. It is entirely possible that we might not be a successful team even with Watson just yet.

Ideally, we know a LOT more about our overall direction after 2021. As bad as it seemed in 2020, we left that season being pretty positive overall. I want that to continue in 2021, regardless of the win totals. Although a big jump there would go a long way towards getting the fanbase much more excited.

What exactly has changed with Watson since his career became a dumpster fire (even if it may be a temporary one)?

Nothing except he reported to training camp.

The situation hasn't gotten better. The price hasn't come down. We've moved on and rolled our dice. Let's keep moving forward and quit rubber-necking that accident scene.

I don't have an issue with us continuing to kick the tires as the situation develops.

It isn't like we may not have a chance that a QB is a big need during the season. Darnold has an injury history, he is a bust and his backups are not dependable.

    • ...Yea...its definitely time to start thinking about a back. Chubba has been a plus... damn Stewart and Williams were some sht...thats our measurable....
    • Yea regardless of what these people want to argue,  or if you want to say he had little impact or not.  Every qb he has worked with had their best statistical season while he was working with them.
    • Chuba is a good back and we are lucky Matt Rhules wife made this draft pick. But, he is entering the final year of his contract. Plus it’s good to have a solid rotation of backs on hand. I think RB is a sneaky need this off-season, I would be surprised if Sanders was still on the roster this time next year(maybe he turns it around). Even Blackshear will be a free agent, drafting a RB this year sets us up with leverage of not being forced to resign Chuba. The best RB fit in my eyes for a Dave Canales offense, is a quick first step home run hitting RB. Why not pair the most explosive RB in the draft with a creative offensive HC. Plus we could grab Jaylen Wright in the 3-4th round.   If you guys wanna check out the video I made about Jaylen Wright it’s linked below!
