Texans now indicate Deshaun Watson is available for trade

The price should be significantly lower with the legal issues still pending. I can’t see it being smart for us now especially with the high ceiling Darnold has on the cheap. The only way I’d see it feasible is if there was some type of contingency put in like baseball (PTBNL) or the trade and some of the moving parts are nullified and voided if he is deemed ineligible for a long period of time (over a season).

I had no idea who this guy is or what his track record was, but a quick Googling turns up that he's pretty much just a typical "hot takes" radio jock. I wouldn't give this more than a coin flip's chance of being accurate.

Rapoport said the Texans haven't heard from anybody yet.

We've had wild rumors from Sileo on here before. He's not a reliable source.

The Texans aren't lowering the price.

I haven't said this about the Texans much in the past, but that's actually smart.

@Mr. Scot That’s why I said should be. It’s under stable they don’t but in our situation currently it’s a decent risk. The question is does risk outweigh reward. I can see that getting him would help us significantly but only if a few chips fall in our favor. Mainly his suspension doesn’t hinder our development beyond this year. If he is slated to be suspended this year I would hope to keep this coming years first in exchange for a better long term draft value for the Texans. I also would hope certain players would be off limits. Jaycee Horn, Brian Burns, Derrick Brown, Taylor Motion, DJ Moore, Terrace Marshall Jr., and contingent on the draft pick allotment preferably but not necessarily Christin McCaffrey. Any scenario based around these contingencies would be great for us but not the end of the world if it differs.

TLDR;

trade 2023 1st and 2nd 2024 1st and 3rd 2025 1st and 3rd 2026 2nd along with YGM, Donte Jackson, Sam Darnold and Shaq Thompson for Deshaun Watson

Even if I take the tweet at face value, I think it's club-speak and a toeing of the party line. The devil will be in the details. Just like any trade-acquisition transaction, Watson is going to the highest bidder. The market will ultimately set the price, not the Texans. This may be a case of how smart the Texans are, but it may become an even bigger case of how dumb some franchise becomes depending upon what they're willing to pay.

No one will ever know how much is "true." This will get settled, out of court, way before it ever goes to trial. There will never be a criminal prosecution because the evidence is flimsy at best.

Having a legitimate young franchise QB, and the success that will follow from it, is worth much more than whatever lost revenue (if any) comes from the limpwrists that stop watching the team.

It's not about revenue. And you're right, he's likely going to settle and get a slap on the wrist. But as an organization, you can't look past all of this and say success makes it ok. The damage you will do inside of the organization will be catastrophic. How many women will be willing to come work here knowing that's the stance of ownership? How many women involved in the team will be willing to stay? How many wives of free agent players will want to come to Carolina knowing that the only thing a player does that matters is on the field? Times have changed. We can't scream for equality and treat others as irrelevant just because of their gender.

And if it does turn out to be true, could you be in that locker room with him knowing he did that to someone's mother, daughter, sister, wife.  What if it was your sister? There's a lot of problems just waiting to be had in all of this right now.

There is no way in hell I would offer a trade package like that...for anybody

Sure as sh-t not for a guy with major red flags.

Current management has no other choice than to stay the course. Staying the course got them to this mess. They gotta ride this thing into the ground now.

To be fair, you can't really blame  Caserio or Culley.

McNair on the other hand...

That was somebody "playing hardball" with Watson. His reputation was fine until this sort of class action round up of "accusers" before his public statements of not returning wanting a trade not showing for camp.

He was an outstanding guy before he got out of line. He's back in line now. Isn't he?

Does this also apply to Bill Cosby?
