He finished on a hugh note, and left me hopeful he may have gotten in his bag and found a rhythm moving forward...  Robby was happy with it.  But, I'm ngl, the OL really wasn't all that bad except for Elflein, and yet, Sam had some very Clausen-like moments early.  So, although I'm encouraged by the final drive, the extremes I saw from some of the panic stuff he did earlier is troubling.

He really did not look calm or comfortable at the beginning. Let’s hope it was first game jitters and we see the 2nd quarter version moving forward. Also dear god, start Brady. He looked better than anyone not named Moton

On the other side of the coin,  incomplete pass gives us a field goal try, that is the difference between  a win or a loss in the NFL.  He had to throw that away...not a sack.

we might not be talking about the same play. the one I'm talking about, he had no business getting rid of that ball. he got lucky it wasn't ruled a fumble. if you want to make that play a difference between a win or a loss in the NFL, that was a losing play.

We are talking about the same play...he takes a sack, we are out of the fg range.  Throwing away is the righr play...hope olthe line can give more than a split second next time...

nah. there's a way to throw the ball away on that play, but it's not by going through your entire throwing motion while already in the grips of a defender with other defenders within arm's length of swatting the ball. I guarantee you he'll be coached up on that in film session. if he wanted to throw it away, he should have done it earlier. at that point, the right play was to take the sack.

He looks great when he's confident and gets the jitters out of his system. Once he gets confidence and comfortable, I think that will be the key to his success. He was seeing ghosts at first but I like that he slowed himself down and composed himself. He made some really get plays under pressure.

That line worries me the most for sure.

The last drive of the first half was great.  85ish yards in a bit of a hurry up situation.  Nice back shoulder location on the td to robby.  At least the starters ended the preseason really strong.  That could carry over some to week 1.

However, like many others have said, a lot is going to hinge on getting at least average oline play.

let me just walk back my "guarantee" a liiiittle bit.

Darnold confirmed that he was just trying to get rid of the ball during that sack during his presser, so I get that he had a plan with it.

I just don't think that's the right move. and given Rhule's point of view on Teddy extending the ball over the goal line last season, I think the head coach will have a similar opinion about it. good result, but bad process, if that makes sense.

so much of the talk when Darnold came to the Panthers was about fixing bad habits. several times that has been likened to him playing a bit less hero ball, playing within the structure of the offense, not trying to do "too much" etc. that play was old Darnold in that respect. but I get that he intentionally wanted to dump the ball to stay in FG range.

I thought Darnold and the offense improved over the course of the first half. Blitzburgh brought pressure on most plays which pressured the defense and the backs. I thought they all got over their jitters and played well as a group. The line got better as well as they figured out their protections which they normally do with gameplanning.  Sure we got work to do but this was a top 3 defense so their depth should have still been pretty good and their scheme stayed the same.

Improved as he settled in. Showed flashes.

Will go as far as the OL goes

If they don't improve, Sam won't go far at all.

Encouraged. But that “incomplete pass” cannot happen

You're right.  He should've taken a sack and taken the team out of FG range.  That would've been the better play.  🙃

Sometimes "bad process" works out but you're right.

I'm sure he and Rhule will work on that 'cause it was risky in that someone could've knocked the ball from his hand before he even tried to wind up and throw it.

Regardless, he had a solid night as we FINALLY got to see him get much-needed reps.  WHO KNEW that a QB needs reps to get into Game-shape?   This is my shocked face : 😑

The OL looked like ass and Darnold still sees ghosts and panics at the first hint of pressure. Not a good combo.

This OL is gonna have to get a lot better very quickly to give Darnold a legit shot at resurrecting his career.

You're getting poops, but you're right. Im not sure why you are getting so much poop.

If you want to learn all about caring for your eyes the right way, the tips and tricks found in this article will be sure to help you out. If your eyes are irritated by pollen or feel dry, use an eyewash. The eyewash can rinse your eyes of the impurities and make them feel more refreshed. Follow instructions on the package carefully. After the eyewash, your eyes should feel much better. Use the product a couple of times a day or as directed. • Nah, Baker definitely wasn’t better than he was a couple seasons he had in Clev.  I mean, he was that guy.  That’s the dude we thought we were getting.  We just happen to a QBs worst nightmare.  Bakers best seasons are his 11-5 season, his rookie season and his Tampa season.  You can play with the order but you do it because it’s all comparable.  the defensive part….is being defensive about Canales.  Because the only QB you can claim he was a QB whisperer for was Geno….the dude that walked in on a team that won 10+ for a decade.  Canales had 1 year as a NFL OC  where he lead the 20th ranked O in a trash division.   And only Carolina talked to him.  Everyone isn’t going to be searching and arguing everything to positive given our consistent track record. Maybe he surprises.  Maybe Morgan too.  They certainly aren’t excitable hires though
