Lol bro you must watch the game with rose colored homer glasses on then. I’ve watched too much shitty Panthers football to have faith everything will be super great having a reject Jets QB who hasn’t been good anywhere he’s been.

Let’s not sit here and say that Darnold’s performance against backups on a team that did not seem to care about this game at all was something to celebrate. He wasn’t absolutely terrible but he wasn’t great either. He played acceptably against backups so it really didn’t show us much. If that performance was against the Steelers starters I’d be singing a different tune entirely.

At this time, no I’m not convinced he’s better than Teddy yet. He hasn’t done anything to do that yet in his career. But of course he’s barely played for this team. But on paper yep Darnold is worse than Teddy so far in his career by almost every measurable aspect.

And I just miss Cam because he was the man. He commanded respect on the field and had attitude. I’ve said this before, Darnold looks lost at times and has the demeanor of a limp noodle. That’s why I thought the panthers messed up not bringing in competition for him. Could have brought out some fire in either QB to win the job.

But of course hope Darnold works out in the regular season because we don’t have any other options. He’s not my first second or third choice to be the QB of this team but I’ll support him until he’s not the QB anymore.

Eh....he doesn't have to be a fiery/vocal guy to be a great QB. There is more than one relatively quiet or "unanimated" QB in the NFL that is successful. I think you just got used to the successful guys we have had like Jake and Cam who wore their emotions on their sleeves.

There will be plenty to criticize Darnold about over the course of a game that matters, I don't think point that merits much of it.

You could've just saved us the trouble and just repeated this for the billionth time, you know? 🙃

Two of his biggest issues with the Jets was that he held on the wall too long and never utilized to checks downs.

tonight he got rid of the ball quickly and actually use his check downs which tells me that he is being coached finally…it’s gonna take a bit but I think the final product will be much better by week 15 compared to week one… It’s just super convenient for us that the first half of the schedule is a lot easier than the back half

This.

Throws a good ball with decent placement but looks jittery in the pocket and gives me David Carr vibes tbh.

The comparison was not 31 years old cam vs 24 year old darnold. Purely talent prospect early in career base. And no darnold doesn't have the same arm strength as cam did..cams zip was elite.

Darnold has an NFL arm for sure but rookie Cam could throw it into the parking lot off his back foot.  His whole thing coming into the league was that he was an off the charts mutant spawned from a nuclear accident but didn't have much experience in a pro offense.

Were we watching the same game? I came away thinking his arm looks stronger than I expected. Maybe in comparison to early Cam not the same but it looked very elite to me. Also his release was quicker than I expected.

That would be @SmittysLawnGuyover at the Game Thread.

He called Sam "Two Gloves without the accuracy"🤦‍♂️

Yes I was way to harsh on Sam last night. Sorry Sam. I reviewed the game this morning minus the cocktails and came away much more impressed with his play. The potential is there. The check downs unfairly drew the Teddy comparison. I'm still shell shocked from last year. Cheers to hope!

those jitters were very obvious.. i need him to calm his sh*t down when in the pocket..

I understand we don't have the best line in front of him - but those "happy-feet" make me 100x more nervous watching the game..

but overall - im encouraged.. 9-8 seems to be much more realistic with the possibility of 10-7.. we shouldn't NEED him to go out and win too many games with our Defense looking the way it is.. just don't f*ck sh*t up..

Sam’s arm strength has never been a problem.  He is also a fine athlete.

being slow with the ball and decision making have always been the Sam knocks.

I thought Sam and the O actually looked pretty good when in the 2 minute drill on that final drive.  Offense as a whole looked pretty subpar as unit outside of that final drive.   And it’s a legit concern the OL isn’t ready.
