First time in Charlotte since 2019, what's there to do on Saturday nights?

Hey folks, looking for ideas in the fun category for that 24 to 28 crowd and the dive barish type areas for that 30-45 feel. I would normally just stick to epicenter before when I came to town but that appears to be in bankruptcy I heard.

Drive 30 min south to monroe.  I got all kinds of trouble to get into.

You’re looking for plaza/Thomas street or NoDa. NoDa gets boring quick though. Both have the dive bar type feel, trendy.

South end is the ‘college crowd’ and is pretty obnoxious. I never enjoyed the area. It can be ok but it’s rare. There are games yea, but it’s just a distraction for bored drunk people to goof around with, again obnoxious and uppity. There are some good beer spots/breweries somewhat around there that are closer the the city…

5th street has good spots and is going to me a mix of college crowd and mid age crowd. Roxbury in particular is a place younger crowds avoid because it’s nostalgia for 30+ crowd.

Generally speaking more middle age crowd, unless they’re desperate, want something more than a bar and dancing. So look for events, good food, good beer, quality games like pool etc. for a better crowd imo. Thing about 5th is you can walk around and find what you like, but no dive bar feel.

There is a smaller area, Montford that is ok, it’ll get boring quick like NoDa though.

The Fillmore area is always an awesome, though small crowd especially if there are no events, places like the sandbox are fun. If there is a good event there, the crowd will be awesome.

Aside from islands here and there, those 5 spots are basically what Charlotte has to offer.

If it were up to me, I prefer Thomas/Plaza and 5th a close second. Thomas and Plaza is great but sometimes it can be randomly completely dead. I’d usually head there first and go to 5th if dead. If you’re looking for get laid, 5th ranks above them all…by far.

If you’re into pool, Rack em in Matthews on Saturday night is always fun and a good crowd IMO. Nothing much else around. If you want small dive bar (small space and non reg tables but nice dive bar vibe) and good area, Elizabeth Bullard is right around Thomas St/Plaza.

Agree on lot of above.   Southend is cool but younger with slingshot having the youngest crowds.  Gin Mill will have cool band that Sat night.  Lost will be packed.  NoDa has some cool spots like my friends place Room and Board….if you go there eat at Goodyear House before good food vibes and drinks.

My spot I own is Graham St Pub & Patio.  It’s a casual rooftop bar next to the stadiums.  Good crowd not too young.   Good DJ Sat 3-7 and 7-2am that play fun old school type music.

A 3 year old kid got killed in a drive by from a bunch of high school kids. National news. They can act like Charlotte is some great Mecca, but it's just becoming another crap hole like Baltimore.

Oh poo I didn't know that, I tend to not watch the news anymore. That really sucks I couldn't imagine if one of my kids had that happen at all but especially that young.

Lol uh, how ‘americultured’ are you? I’ve lived in about 17 different large cities including Baltimore. It’s beyond comical you would say this unless you have never been to and experiences Baltimore.

Charlotte is by FAR one of the nicest cities for its size. The poverty levels, violent gangs, and violent crime are easy peasy.

In fact I think people are so used to how Kush it is when there is a murder they’ll scream out ‘oMG wE aRE becOmIng BALtimore!!1”.

Its not a safe and boring as it used to be in the late 90s when there were like 5 buildings downtown but for its size, it’s about as good as you’ll get.

    • No room to take two WR's IMO, with Mingo and ISM locked up for next year. We need the center, LB, CB, or edge more.
    • Thielen will be fine if we had two other receivers that drew coverage. He's a 3rd and 4th down chains mover at this point in his career
