Thoughts on Elflein, our O-line, the jets and the aints.

Next Sunday, the aints will be facing a team that allowed only 2.6 Rushing Yards/Att,  currently the best  in the NFL.

Yeah, but... The Jet's line was actually worse than ours while the taints have a good O-line. We should beat them, but our D won't have it as easy as they did Sunday.

Only 5 sacks, lol.

Very true.

The jets have invested 2 first round picks in their line with players huddlers have had on their board. LT Becton (74.4 pff) was a 2020 1st Rounder 3rd overall , Vera-Tucker  was a '21 1st round guard at pick 14.  They brought in  Morgan Moses (79.9pff ) who  has been a good RT for WFT.  Their center and their RG have PFF scores very similar to ours.      They did exactly what the huddle has been screaming  to do for years with players that many huddlers liked at the time.

We had 6 sacks, 10 QBHs, 8 Pass deflections and 1 FF with pressure from all directions, not just at the weak spots.

I'm hoping the jets had a decent O-line and we made it look bad.

There's no doubt that in my mind that the aints OL is better.  The question is, can it withstand our onslaught?

Good post. I think whichever team can stop the others running back the most wins. Kamara helped Winston a lot in week 1 by him only needing to throw 20 passes. If we can get that number to 30, 40 we will definitely have multiple opportunities to create turnovers. But maybe the same can be said if CMC is stopped and/or limited by the opposing defense.

This game will be muchhh better to kind of evaluate where we are as a team.

Yeah, our OL wasn't very good but the Jets' OL was barely present. They're either REALLY bad or our DL us considerably better than I expected and I expected it to be pretty good. Maybe it's a bit of both.

I know everyone is questioning Horn over Slater after Slater's big game Sunday, but I still agree with Rhule's rationale for going shutdown corner. We couldn't get off the field on 3rd down last season. I think focusing on keeping the other team off the field first is solid, even though I'd have loved to see them build a great wall for Darnold or whoever to play behind. Looking forward to an all-offense draft in 2022...fingers crossed.

Tbh, at some point these stats intersect, overlap, and make no sense whatsoever lol.  Quinnen Williams was held to a low PFF grade, but we had the worst pass block win rate in the league.😂

I can't credit Elflein, he looks bad.  And I believe in Daley, but he didn't look great Sunday either.  I honestly think we just schemed around the pressure and got the ball out as quick as possible which resulted in the negative grades for the Jets DL.

Now, as far as their OL, they are actually really good.  So, I think their poor performance was more because our DL and LBs were that good.  Problem is, I think the Saints line is even better, so we have our work cut out for us.  Brightside is, I feel like a lot of those sacks Wilson escaped from last week, Winston won't this week.  Winston can move, but he's not elusive...  if Burns or Reddick gets to him, he is going down.

Based on the win rate, the Jets o-line, which allowed  6 sacks, 10 QBHs, 8 Pass deflections and 1 FF  was superior to ours last Sunday.  Anybody watching the game, including Jets fans would say BS.

I think Zach Wilson would have gladly traded places with Darnold.

Would you want to trade O-lines with the jets?

Why compare and contrast bottom ranked olines? The Jets still shut us out of their end zone for a whole half and made a game of it at the end. If a rookie who got walloped for 6 sacks can do that what will the better quarterbacks we face on our upcoming schedule do?

The Jets didn't keep them out of the end zone, the Panthers took care of that all by themselves.

Of course the miscues in the rz should not have happened but we were not great on third downs either and that is why we struggled to sustain drives despite a career day from McCaffrey. That has to get better and that is more of the same carryover from the previous regime.  We also won't be able to punt from the opposing teams 33 yard line going against potent offenses either. We need to figure out who with and how we are going to better sustain drives. We can admit it has been painful to watch this team in short yardage situations as of late but we can't rely on hero ball from CMC at all times.
