He’s not from here so he thinks NC and SC are just 2 sides of the same coin.  When in reality one is a typewriter the other a sea otter.  Nothing in common except the word Carolina.

Seems logical to the outsider, that we would like the same stuff, but NC and SC don’t even like each other let alone the same activities.

If you want to find out just how bad each state hates the other and western counties hate eastern counties, bring up BBQ. The Carolinas have two Mason Dixie lines on that subject, and they despise each other with extreme prejudice.

Same holds true for western North Carolina, I've seen.

I've been told (from sports stores in both areas) that the reason is that college sports are So Much Bigger in those areas that they don't have the demand for the pro stuff.  Clemson, USC, fringe UGA stuff in Greenville? I get it. Limited Panthers merch - to me, that's an issue

If it matters, they sell UGA gear in western NC for some weird reason.

This^

I live here in WNC. Most folks don't even know we have a pro team.  It's Clemson and USC with some Western Carolina and App State if you're in the foothills.  Nobody gives a sh*t about the Panthers besides me and @LinvilleGorgeand we don't even like each other.

NC by and large has always been a college sports town except for early on in during the time of the Hornets and that was highly likely just feeding off the popularity of college basketball in the state. I can't even remember meeting anyone who gave a single flying fug about the NBA in over a decade.

Everything I have heard points to Tepper wanting to squeeze every penny out of everything at the stadium. Taking up the big screens for a chant instead of showing ads probably was why it was done away with. Now they are doing damage control.

I know right? Freaking ads plastered everywhere sucks. Next thing you know he will plaster the Panthers site with the stuff to try and drive traffic to increase ad revenue. The nerve of that guy…

Makes sense to me. The one thing billionaires want more than anything else is to add another zero to their bank account.

The reactionary hand wringing over this is one of the more embarrassing things this fan base has done.

So they did the drummer and this is only about not getting the prompt to do the cheer that used to erupt spontaneously?

I would honestly just ban your whining ass if I didn't think it would actually be a liberation for you. All you ever do is whine about other people actually having opinions on things. Any time you spend here has to be miserable for you and that actually comforts me.

One thing I find (amusing? odd?) is that it's easier to track down various NoDa beer* in Greenville SC than it is to track down Panthers gear there.

(*disclaimer: not necessarily all NoDa varieties, and there are also other Charlotte-area breweries represented as well)

But we digress in this thread with these NC vs SC observations.... so let's loop back to the topic at hand:

I don't mind the stadium event/marketing crowd experimenting with different things to engage the crowd, but let's hope that they fully received the message about how important Keep Pounding is to the fan base.
