So far really like what I see from Darnold.  Thought it was still a risk worth taking, just hated the price.

Cautiously optimistic now he continues, and our QB problem is "solved" for a bit.

The Price at least was somewhat reduced with the draft picks recouped to the point that we only give up a 2nd-rounder so that's something, right?  🤷‍♂️

Isn't it interesting how all the proud "realists" on the Huddle were very eager and confident in shouting their evaluations from the rooftops in thread after thread after thread in the offseason about how:

  • we're still bottom-dwellers for at least another season
  • any predictions about a top-10 defense is coming from delusional homers
  • Darnold is one of the worst starting quarterbacks
  • our o-line is worst in the league
  • Shaq is an overpaid JAG
  • Fields was the better pick over Horn
  • etc. etc

All of this before a single game was played by this team in its current state. Now after two games these are the same people saying across multiple threads "woah woah it's only been two games, way too early for any judgments".  Like come on you lil doomers, enjoy the excitement while it lasts...it's okay to entertain some positive discussion. Like yeah no sh#% it's too early to make any definitive conclusions about this team, but quit being boring as hell.  You can talk about what has surprised you so far.

Yeah I’m the same. This feels a little premature…

I am pumped about the 2-0 start but we saw how some of the early season proclamations worked out last year. The Huddle was rife with "TEDDY IS THE GOAT" threads.

I like the way we look, outside the OL. Just need to see in sustained for a full season.

Oh I’m definitely happy. This is the easy part of our schedule and our defense has looked solid (now we get Bouye back) and Darnold is looking comfortable and coachable. We should only get better as the season progresses, but so do our opponents.

Because we have seen overreactions on both sides. Kyle Allen was the next big thing during his mini win streak. Teddy started off getting wins and was deemed our next future QB. On the flip side we have people wanting Rhule on the hot seat after one season as a head coach during a rebuild. When/If Darnold has a bad game these same people overreacting are going to be screaming and crying he is a bust. I don’t mind people getting excited at all. I was fired up all game Sunday and afterwards. It was a thing of beauty watching our defense crush Payton’s offense. I hope we do the same thing to the Texans tomorrow night.
Just making sure I follow. You are concerned these people are making bad predictions before any games have been played, but now want them to make some after two home games?
I am loving the creativity by Snow and this defense. Him staying at the stadium after a dominate performance is one of my favorite stories so far. I’m also loving seeing Darnold stay cool under pressure and taking on a leadership role. The future is definitely bright with this young team and great staff!

Bitter clingers.

They don't want to be wrong.

I'm enjoying this while it lasts.  It was the worst offensive performance for Payton EVER.  I don't think people realize what happened last Sunday.  They will, come Dallas, cause Rhule will unchain the dogs again.

Yeah I agree there are overreactions on both sides.  I guess depending on one's temperament and overall attitude towards the team, people are rather selective on which side they call out though.  If you're more on the doomer side, you tend to ignore all the hyperbolic statements about how the FO is ruining our franchise and we're gonna be bottom dwellers for years and we're throwing our future away on yet another mediocre patchwork QB and all we've done is beat up on two "bad" teams (shoutout CRA) etc. etc. and you're quick to jump down peoples' throats who talk about how dominant of a team we are, how Darnold's career is saved and he's a legit starting QB, how our defense is one of the best in the league, etc. etc.  Personally, I tend to err on the side of positivity (cause why follow a team that makes you miserable) so I'm not gonna waste my time trashing someone who thinks that Kyle Allen is a Top 3 QB or that the Panthers are winning the next 30 consecutive Super Bowls cause I couldn't care less....it doesn't trigger me to see people excited about the team like it does some people.

But to clarify my point in my last post: to the people who are conveniently adopting the position of "hey let's wait and see beyond two games how things play out before crowning us as a dominant team"....where the hell was this energy in the offseason?  If anyone has followed my posts in any capacity, 99% of my criticism to the doomers in here is to stop overreacting to everything (FA signings, draft picks, training camp performances, etc.) and let's just wait and see how things play out.  Woah...crazy thought right?  Simply saying "quit overreacting and let's wait and see" during the offseason gets you painted as a homer for Huddle standards lol.  But it's become pretty transparent that the "let's wait and see" approach is a convenient, selective tool for certain people only to be brandished when something is threatening their preconceived beliefs about this team.

Yeah I’m enjoying seeing the fan base fired up about our team. I think it’s a tad early for the “I told you so” moments going around. The fans that really don’t want our team to succeed (I can imagine there are very many) will gradually fade into the background as we keep getting better throughout Rhule’s career. I think we got something special in him and he seems to be smart about his assistants (Brady and Snow look legit).
