It wouldn’t be the huddle without overreacting.

Dude is two and a half games into the season and he barely played last year and we are boiling it down to his workload? Lmao

Yeah. He gets a lot of touches. He’s our best player. No, that isn’t why he’s hurt.

Teams used to run way more than they do today. Players like Tomlinson, Faulk, Alexander, Holmes did this regularly for years. CMC is young and has not even played much for the last year. We are two games in. This isn’t a workload issue lol

Holmes and Alexander got ran to the ground.

Idc how much muscle he puts on Mccaffrey is naturally a small RB, you don’t give that type of RB 30 touches a game, that’s not counting all time he’s asked to block or get hits on a play action.

Many don't want to hear it but his prime window is closing

Rivera and now Rhule ran him into the ground.

The best ability is availability

His prime window closes according to Father Time. A lot of touches doesn’t help, but his skill set is still going to diminish each year.

Dont look for him to get another contract here.

Typical RB lifespan is 5 years. With that said a bad hammy is a chronic issue. We should be a lot more worried about JC Horn. Non contact broken feet are normally chronic.

They need to change with the situation and this is time to do something that will still give us a running threat and a passing threat when CMC isn't in the game.

I totally agree and have said this the past 2 seasons.  You can't continue to drive a person and expect him to perform at 100%.  CMC has a lot left to give but I hope they game plan with less carries.

I hear what you are saying but CMC is still quite young. He’s essentially not even played under his new massive contract yet considering he only played 3 games last year. We are two games into this season. So if we are suggesting he can’t handle that workload over two games a season then we have a much bigger problem.

Again. I find it more likely that this is related to being a short week of rest especially when there’s a definite correlation between injuries and Thursday night games.

That’s what lesser-coaches do… they abuse and burn-out elite talent to cover for their inadequacies.   Instead of taking lesser talent and making it better.

As already stated though. Rhule has had him for 6 games lol. If you are pinning it on Rhules it’s more showing your bias towards disliking him because Rhule has barely used CMC since he’s been the coach here.

Most running backs get hurt throughout their careers. Pitch count is just more chances to get hurt but he can get hurt on carry number 21 on the year just the same as getting hurt on carry number 400. We either admit he’s injury prone and make sure we always have a good second running back on the roster or we keep using him as needed and hope he doesn’t get hurt frequently.

Fred Taylor used to get hurt a lot and earned the name Fragile Freddy and then went on a run where he missed like 5 games in 7 years after missing 24 games in his first 4 years.

A running back can be injured on any play. Simple as that. It can be the first touch of the ball they have (Biakabutuka anyone), or it can be that he never misses games like Jim Brown (he still got hurt, though). In the NFL, that's true for any player -- some have been injured in practice or on the sidelines doing nothing and welp, that's the career.

All NFL players wear down over their careers. It's not the coaches faults, it's not the players, it's just the nature of a competitive full-contact game. Even frikkin kickers generally see their careers end from one injury or another.

So, let's get some perspective. The dude pulled a hammy. It's not the end of the world. It will get better, most likely sooner than later. He'll get back into the lineup and we'll see him out there on 90% of the offensive snaps. And we'll all cheer.

No one is going to keep a healthy CMC on the bench and off the field. You don't try to save up star players like they have a limited number of charges before they are useless. You keep  running them until they can't answer the bell. Then you thank them, get the next young guy and begin the wait for the HoF committee to call or not call.

That's the game we watch and cheer for. And that's the fame that goes with the fortune.
