Now that we've got this Texans game out of the way they should have no reason to want to withhold him from us if given the right offer.

He was tossing Brian burns around last night like he was a ragdoll. We are 31st in pass block rating in the NFL.  Perfect storm?

If we're just going to draft a tackle next year anyway I don't see why not...

??????????

Do they have a post office in your world?

Local government?

Or is everything just run by the pink elephants?

We are building a young athletic team through the draft.  No way would I give up our 1st round pick for an aging veteran regardless of how good he is right now.

This is the best explanation.  I can see us working the trade wire for line upgrades but I don’t think we are trading high level draft picks for aging vets.  More likely to try and find some solid linemen as upgrades for interior line positions with lower round draft capital.   The FO is not tossing first rounders around in a shopping spree

just my .02

There are many reasons that the idea of trading for Tunsil is ridiculous. This isn't really one of them though. He just turned 27 in August. He's not exactly an "aging veteran"

You figure that many start to decline by 30 and you're talking big money.  If you draft a young talented OT in the first round than you have 5 years at a value.  That would take Tunsil to 32 and you've just spent a bankroll on him for those 5 year.

Might not be "aging veteran" but at the end of 5 year span we are now looking for someone to replace him.

So yeah, his age does have something to do with it.

Not really. I mean yeah, a true franchise LT on a rookie deal is obviously an ideal scenario but if the Texans were hypothetically willing to let Tunsil go for just a 1st, you do that immediately 10/10 times. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. You jump all over that. The reality is that they're not going to, for many reasons that I listed early in this thread.

We have build an amazing young team through the draft.  I would not give up our 1st for nothing.

Different philosophies but my money is on the draft.

Burns' stats and essentially "ragdolled all night" (and, yes, I'm  paraphrasing for effect) don't jibe, OP.

Not that the Texans would do it, but, yes, I'd give up next year's first for Tunsil (if that's all it took), and I don't see why it's a bad idea. It sounds like fair compensation to me. I don't think there's ever a sure-bet coming out in the draft, and 2022 isn't any different.

    • Miles Bridges Speaks on Future with Hornets   “It’s still the same,” Bridges responded when asked about his upcoming free agency. “I would love to be here. It’s my plan to be here. I love the city of Charlotte. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I grew up here. I’ve been here since I was 20. I’ve been through a lot here and the Hornets stayed down on me when they didn’t have to. It’s like a family to me here. My mom loves it here, my family loves it here. It’s home to me. “You don’t see too many people finishing their careers (where they started). Steph (Curry) he’s kind of been that model player for this generation. A lot of people be moving teams and moving around. I don’t want to do that. I want to be like Step, Kobe, and Dirk in that type of way - staying with a team and winning with a team.”
