It’s all fun and games until someone throws a pick or makes a bone headed play and you keep rotating them in for the heck of it.  At some point you have to declare a full time starter and live and die by that person.

Which could easily be cam and that's the whole point of rotating QBs.

Every single player in the NFL will tell you the best way to get better is consistent reps. If we are being realistic and not looking through rose-tinted glasses at the offense because we won last week PJ Walker put the ball in harms way multiple times last week and we got lucky where they dropped two INTs and only caught one. Cam was a cool story but the truth is we can likely score from where he scored as long as CMC is in the game.

Cam needs full reps. That's why he got them this week. Because he can't learn the offense when PJ takes away from his reps. Likewise, PJ isn't going to improve running with the second team all the time. If you only have Cam work in the and-short situations then you are screwed in Walker gets hurt. I think most people of sound mind understand Cam Newton is still a far superior QB and leader than PJ Walker. Cam should be getting 90+% of first team reps and it should be of the entire offense.

Nobody really runs a two QB system and there is a reason for that. PJ has had literally one good showing in his entire career in the NFL. Every appearance has been below league average until this last week. There is very little reason to believe he can continue to keep this going. Mike White looked good in a spot. Josh Johnson as well. PJ should only be in the game if its a blowout or if Cam is hurt.

There is way more cons than pros for running a two QB "system" with one of those QBs being PJ Walker. Everything PJ can do, Cam can do. So by having to practice for Cam Newton you are practicing for Cam and PJ anyway.

2 qb system works great. Yall are only saying it doesnt because yall are so dedicated to not LIKING PJ walker. I'll take it a step further, yall are afraid that if yall have to see PJ walker for longer than 10 min, yall will end up having to respect him as a player. That's so crazy to me, but that's what I think.

Also, cams arm is shot. His shoulder is more of a chronic issue, which is why that throw to DJ moore was short. Yes, they do need PJ walker.

I think the cam’s arm is shot is overblown. He doesn’t have the same arm strength but like his final game of 2020 he had 3 passing tds and almost 250 yards on a running team.  The question is can he still be an effective passer and I think the answer is yes. The throw to DJ was fine. 3 days of work and he still put it up so DJ had a chance which is wayyy better than what we’ve seen from qbs this season.

people need to readjust how they view cam. He’s not a 21 year old kid flicking 60 yard passes with ease and that’s fine! Think of him like the older qbs who were still effective even though they lost arm strength. We just need him to be effective. Distribute the ball to playmakers on time and in rhythm and have him do some splash plays with his legs. This is a playoff/championship type defense. We just need cam to be a leader and be competent on offense.

I’m looking for this quote and I can’t find anywhere. Anyone else heard him say it?

Also it’s a stupid idea if true

I just posted an extract audio of the interview. Let me know if you can listen

Found a playback of the interview on Sirius XM NFL Radio and able to screen record a clip.

He does acknowledge that having two QBs rotating isn’t normally ideal but that this situation is different.

It can work for a time but you can't get carried away with it. Rhule is trying to fallback on his college teams as an example but he has had to learn the hard way already that his college methods don't always translate at this level. If this is a one or two game deal that's ok but sooner rather than later you have to roll with one and let the chips fall where they may if we are wanting to salvage this season.

You dont have to be 21 to go downfield, cams problem is injuries, not age. I dont think cam fans are ready to see that side of cam, they are already emotionally charged up. 2 qbs, would help cover cams problems with his arm. Something goes wrong, they can just blame PJ walker.

Load management may be the only way we can get Cam through a full NFL season at this point in his career, and it's going to take an unprecedented coaching approach because of his unique skillset. If this works out extension talk is going to get interesting.

Let’s stop this bullshit. Cam doesn’t need load management he needs time to learn the playbook. He’s fuging 32 not 42.

I’m talking about QBs like Brees and Peyton who obviously lost strength in their arms but we’re still effective enough to make the playoffs and help their teams. Cam also has another dimension to his game with his legs. His arm being done is completely overblown. I watched his games from 2020. He was throwing it downfield even late in the season. He just doesn’t have the same arm as he did as 21 year old.

Drew brees is not a good example.
