Rhule can't simply walk--he's under contract (unless he has an escape clause for LSU in his contract, which seems unlikely).  However, he could negotiate an exit at a reduced buyout on the understanding that he's going to be fired at some point.

He could leave. He would likely just forfeit any money left on his deal.
