Game On Thursday Against Detroit

I'm just saying....all but a literal couple of people in the NHL are vaccinated (I know it's like 2 players are unvaccinated. Every official is vaccinated. I imagine most/all coaches are, as well as front office personnel).

Most of the public is as well. If you're asymptomatic for 24 hours, you should be clear.  But then I'm no doctor so that may in actuality be a terrible idea, I honestly don't know.

If you’re asymptomatic you’re are still most likely transmissible. That’s why it’s two negative tests in a row, in America that is in terms of hockey. Canada I think is just a blanket 14 days.

Reinforcements are here.

Drury, Poturalski, and Noesen are all headed to Raleigh.

Phew. I was really concerned we couldn’t pull Poturalski back up because we sent him down yesterday. We need to rely on Andersen, Slavin + the D and hope our few remaining forwards can crack Ned. Apparently we can you the emergency rule again after this game and pull up 3 more forwards to fill our roster for Saturday and Sunday. Why we can only pull up three at a time, since it’s covid is beyond me.

I think that’s why they sent Pots back. You have to make less than $850K to be eligible. Pots was used as a regular call up but he makes less than $850K so they sent him back down, used what little cap space we have to call up Jack who makes more than $850K and then used the emergency exception on Pots and Noesen who make less than $850K.

That makes total sense. I was worried we couldn’t recall Pots because of the fact we called him up on regular cap. Phew. Really looking forward to getting a look at him over the next few games. I love staal, but he’s got only a year or two left here, plus Tro probably out pricing the market. Gotta start thinking about our centers of the future.

Aho, KK, Necas, and a "to be named later" next season. We could be pleasantly surprised about Trocheck. Since the article appeared about him being a UFA and how his production has lagged from last season, he's really come on lately.

I like Necas on the wing, although he has and can play center; but I like his speed on the wing. Lorentz is the guy I'd like to see in the middle. His confidence continues to grow and I think he can become a big net-front presence.

Lorentz is basically Staal junior in terms of play style and size but you know Rod likes to keep 5-6 centers on the roster. So even if Lorentz takes over a line next season we’ll still have 2-3 spots to fill. I don’t see Necas centering a line here for the short term. He’s too good on the wing with his speed.

So at worst we are looking at Aho, KK, Lorentz up the middle. I think we keep staal until the end of next year at least. So that does give us four. Also Tro may want to stay here. I would not be surprised on that, especially if it’s basically only until Rod’s contract is up. But we still gotta see what our rooks can do.

So here’s how everything shaked out in the morning skate.

Nino - Trocheck - Necas

Turbo - KK - Fast

Poturalski - Stepan

Drury - Noesen

Slavin - Bear

Skjei - Pesce

Smith - TDA

Andersen

Raanta

Injured: Martinook, Chatfield

Covid: Aho, Svech, Jarvis, Staal, Lorentz, Cole

A lot of flexibility because a ton of those guys can play wing or center, have to think Nino, Necas, Turbo, and Fast will double shift, potentially KK as well.
