Gave that to a niece, but hadn't heard back on whether she's enjoyed it or not.  What's the premise, hows the gameplay?

It's turn based strategy.

Can either be played 1v1 or up to 6 players.

The goal of the game is to accomplish the task of the villain you choose to play as while the other players try to stop you while simultaneously finishing theirs.

Plays like magic the gathering in a way.

Risk

Monopoly

I have "Catch a Killer" but haven't started it yet.

I want to play that train game that's been mentioned in here.

If drinking and whatnot CAH (new decks) and Exploding Kittens.  I like to play long strategy based games...my buddies...not so much.  I think I only have friends with ADD.

So I am an Scrabble nerd since a kid, but the kiddos (mine and my sibling's) are spending March break at my home (my brother and his wife are working, I work from home so their kiddos stay with me) and they have discovered UNO... hahaha can you believe it? my oldest found my old UNO in one of the storage boxes when we were cleaning yesterday... so it's day 2 of UNO in this house!

Scrabble variation:

  • You can pick up a blank from the board and replace it with its represented letter, but you MUST use the blank tile on that same turn you pick up the blank.

it allows some additional flexibility by allowing the blank to be in play for more than just the two uses (so the game becomes slightly easier and/or longer).  But strategy could also come in if - let's say - you use it as an X and all the playable X's are already on the board (meaning, that blank won't get picked up again in the future)

Codenames is my favorite because it's so damn accessible and everyone enjoys it. Any occasion, any group, it never misses. Why I got sick of CAH years ago.

CAH is fun the first time you play it.
Then it's only fun if you have a *massive* amount of available cards
Then it's only fun if people just randomly throw cards away in search of the "funny" responses

Many many years ago, CAH did a promotion where you could get a custom card printed with your name (or whatever you wanted) on it.

I really like deck building games and The Quest for El Dorado is great cross between a racing game and a deck building game. I highly recommend

I don't think I've played many deck building games. I guess I spent so much time on M:TG in the 90s that I'm still burned out.

Dominion is by far my favorite deck builder. My only issue with it is once you are good at it if you aren’t play other experts you just destroy the table with the right engine strategy.

I LOVE dominion as well. We went to a game store and based on liking that game we were recommended The Quest for El Dorado. Its top notch.

Its a great combo of trying to build the perfect deck (and not moving) vs moving and not growing your deck. If you like deck building games you WILL like this game.
