There's a massive lack of self-awareness on Mint Street right now from Tepper to Rhule and others.

I keep thinking back to two important quotes from John Madden and what made him successful as a coach and commentator.

The first one: "If you make a mistake, admit it quickly and emphatically and don’t dwell on it." Right now - nobody on Mint Street wants to admit any mistakes. I get not wanting to throw players under the bus, but doubling down on the Rashawn Slater evaluation when he's clearly a damn good left tackle is ridiculous. It's okay to say "hey, we missed on our evaluation and we're going to learn from it." That's better than doubling down on your assessment.

The second one: "Nothing is worse than a phony. If you’re going to have longevity, you’d better be yourself. And you’d better be yourself every doggone day." Based on all the stories I've read about Rhule, from throwing coffee into his face, telling a coach this might be his last game and how he talks during press conferences - I feel like he's not genuine. You could see with Ron Rivera that he was genuine. So many of us are able to look through the stuff he says and does - yet the owner doesn't see it.

I know that's a long post - but to me - those things stand out and boils down to the root problem of Rhule's coaching and frankly whatever the Panthers are trying to do as an organization overall.

Not that I don't agree with the first point, but I really agree with the italicized section. His actions and talk have diverged so much this year in particular that I don't believe anything he says.

Just that I know someone that knows someone. Then you say "all the ole my friends dads nephews cousins dog knows someone" and we keep it moving. Which is why I never thread those

Oh no I remember that you know someone that knows someone. You've dropped some clues in the past so I was wondering if there was any more meat left on the bone of that comment.

I now find myself in the uncomfortable position of agreeing with DeAngelo Williams 😕

When literally EVERYONE is on the same page in the Fanbase/those connected or formerly connected to it....then Tepper still be like

Bad take. Mac has looked really damn good. Every stat indicates that. Watching him play shows it. Sure he's in a good system in NE, and sure he'd struggle here. I'd argue every QB would struggle here. Hating on Mac is just Pats hate redirected, far as I can tell.

I’ve watched him plenty and stand by my opinion. He’s not a downfield threat and has poor mobility which are significant weaknesses for modern QBs. Also most of his counting stats were accumulated in garbage time/during blow outs and against bad defenses, basically the easiest situations for QBs. Many of his turnovers have come in critical situation and moments for his team that contributed to losses. He’s shown no ability to come from behind or to participate in a shootout or really to deal with in-game adversity at all.

These are the same reasons I didn’t want to draft him so it has absolutely nothing to do with the Patriots. He has great short to intermediate accuracy, and fits what the Pats need out of a QB so good for them. But there’s not a team out there that isn’t coached by Belichick or Andy Reid who could have consistent success with a QB like this. He’s and Alex Smith, Bridgewater type player. Pats have a great D, run game, OL and all around coaching so they can live with a severely limited QB. Other teams can’t, us included.

The fact that Tepper and his PR team even allowed this bumbling moron to go on this radio show makes me think Tepper is still undecided whether he's going to fire him. He's letting Rhule go out and make a fool of himself to further justify the move.

We haven't heard a single thing from Tepper yet and that guy isn't shy about running his mouth.

That's fair. I think it is just hard to determine how good any QB is in NE if they're not putting up ridiculous numbers like Brady did in his time.

He is just a rookie though. From what I can tell, given the situation around him, I think he can develop into a well rounded QB.

He doesn't have crazy mobility but he has enough to not be a total statue. He has a downfield arm he just doesn't go for it much. He sticks safe and protects the ball, which is what Bill wants. I've seen him throw deep with some touch. I do think it's a valid criticism because his deep ball doesn't have much velocity, but he hits the outs with good zip on it consistently.

I'd call him a middling QB right now with the potential to sniff the top third if he continues to develop and elevate his game and command of the offense. He could certainly be Alex Smith though.
