Christensen got bullied whenever a DE bullrushed him at LT.

Y'all joke about those short arms not being a factor, but NFL DEs can get into his body and just manhandle him. He CAN play there, but it's never going to be pretty / dominant.

Whether he can be a finesse LG is another matter. Either way he's not nailed down a spot for 2022.

Sure, maybe he did get bulled a bit at LT . . . but he stayed in front of his man for the most part.  Something our LT's generally seem unable to do since . . . forever it seems.

There is no such thing as a "finesse" guard in our scheme.  Maybe if you're running the old Broncos zone scheme, but ours is a power based scheme.  Meaning our guards need to be maulers.  BC will never be mistaken for a "mauler".

Couple of things. We are picking 6th not 7th. A trade down is unlikely imo due to a lack of interest in the players at our pick.

There is no chance we are taking a center high with Pat in the middle of his $13.5m contract.

I think we're looking at QB or LT at the 6th pick. A later round center wouldn't break my heart as an insurance plan in case Pat goes down again with injury.

Brown looked fat af when he saw the field.

He needs a major offseason conditioning programme to get him anything like.

Agree…This is the typical thinking that the backup is some awesome player and the coaches are clueless.  There is/was a reason he wasn’t seeing the field and its not because he is some awesome hidden talent

I want Linderbaum as well. Out of curiosity, where do the “analytics” say you should pick a Center?

Analytics say not in the first round basically, similar to how you should view drafting a DT or RB, it's just not a valuable enough position to draft that early. If you do draft someone in the first round at DT or C they better be absolutely incredible game changing type guys. So for DT someone who can both command double teams and hold their own while also possessing ability to rush the passer (Aaron Donald, maybe Vita Vea). Won't say I know exactly what that means for a C but I don't think that drafting a C at 7 is wise... but we are still so talent deficient on this roster that I'm not sure it would even bother me. But anyways, should be going for QB or LT at that draft spot.

Then why draft him? Rhule and Fitterer were quite elated when we landed him. Nothing about short arms then.

Elfein should be a backup at best if he is even on the roster.  He was a terrible signing in spring

- he was bad in Minnesota.  To the point where they drafted over him taking the Center from NC State in the 1st rd after he was their starter.  They then CUT him before he even finished out his rookie deal.  Something even Dennis Daley here couldn’t accomplish.

- he then went to the Jets and we so bad that they didn’t even waste their time attempting the re sign him.

- even when at Center here.  He has spent more time on the ground than up blocking someone

We are screwed if we keep this guy as a starter. No way he should play, even as a backup he is terrible.

From what I saw under these conditions (and film from Minn/Jets), I have to agree.  I wonder what Newton was told/heard/saw where he would arrive at this conclusion (that Elflein was part of the OL core)?
