Gruden will only take the job if there's a chance he'd be head coach by mid-season.

But it also shows how far he's fallen since his head coaching gig. He wasn't the guy his brother is, for both the good and the bad.

There is a huge chance Rhule gets fired before the season is over.

So in a league where teams are moving to less verbiage in their playcalling so they can move faster and the QB can concentrate on what he has to do rather than spitting the playcall out...we are thinking about going with a guy who runs a system with the longest playcall verbiage.

And for a team that is looking for its next QB and might end up with a guy who's green...we are going to give him an OC with needlessly wordy playcalls.  And as we are looking at college kids, we have to take into account many of them have never even had a playbook before and they didn't run a ton of plays.  But we have an OC who "narrows down" the weekly gameplan to "only" 150 plays to focus on.

He's the best out of the lot they interviewed so far. At least he has called plays in the NFL and been to the playoffs multiple seasons.

only thing I wonder is did he intentionally take a year off after the disaster that was the 2020 Jaguars or is there just not a lot of interest in him

I’ve heard Jay’s a bad HC, not OC. Honestly this is going to be as good as it gets. He has experience in the league as a coordinator and coach. We could do worse.

So 3 wildcard losses with the Bengals/Andy Dalton. One wildcard loss with Cousins in DC. Wonder if he'll try to get Cousins down here

Wishful thinking my friend.  Wishful thinking

to be sadly honest, if he should win plus two game next year, he will be back

that ‘bromance’ of the sweaty, short order fry cooks continues

Then it would be unprecedented. While there have been coaches that have survived 2 really bad years. The 3rd year being bad almost always results in a coaches firing.
If Rhule doesn’t make the playoffs next season, he won’t, and he isn’t fired the Panthers will be reaching Browns levels of ineptitude.
Maybe Rhule gets a 4th or 5th year. But I doubt it since bad coaches never survive 3 bad years.
