Organizations should think hard before investing premium draft capital on Malik Willis, though, as there are concerns surrounding the Liberty quarterback's ability to translate his game to the next level.

Willis has piled up huge numbers since transferring from Auburn in 2019, throwing for over 5,000 yards and 47 touchdowns while adding another 1,822 yards and 27 scores on the ground in two seasons.

However, much of that production came against subpar competition.

The 6'1", 215-pound quarterback has unpolished mechanics as well.

Bleacher Report's Scouting Department has put a third-round grade on the 22-year-old, citing inconsistent timing, erratic pocket movement and lack of familiarity with a pro-style offense.

Despite this, ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. recently had the Flames star coming off the board at No. 11 overall to Washington, one of the squads more desperate for a promising prospect at the position.

Using that early of a pick on Willis, who has undeniable upside but an extremely low floor could be a costly mistake.

Carson Strong is a statuesque 6'4", 215-pound pocket-passer who can make all the throws, but his one-dimensional style of play could hurt his chances of success in the modern NFL.

The 22-year-old just finished up his three-year run as a starter with 139 rushing attempts for negative-305 yards.

While Strong possesses a cannon arm—which helped him complete 70 percent of his passes for 36 touchdowns against eight interceptions in 2021—the rest of his game leaves much to be desired.

Strong's mobility has been hindered further by a string of knee injuries and surgeries that have plagued him since high school.

That knee should be a major red flag for teams considering drafting Strong in the first round this year.

Hope the Panthers do not reach for a QB this year.  Hope McAdoo can bring some sanity to the QB evals.  We know Rhule does not have any.

We have zero business taking a QB this year, unless a late round developmental/backup type.  I think this QB class will be a complete bust.  Maybe one will wind up (Corral or Pickett) being a franchise QB, but a middling one at that (think Baker Mayfield).

I have seen where a couple media draft-guys have us taking a CB.  Bucky Brooks thinks that only because ALL THREE OTs are gone before pick #6.  That's what is so mind blowing here is Panthers fans are so desperate for a QB that they are willing to roll the dice on what is arguably the worst QB class in years over potential franchise OTs.

Because the draft is always a big question mark. There are steals and busts in every draft class. The story a decade from now could very well end up being how this was the most underrated QB draft class in history and laughing about all the overrated It's and edge rushers who pushed QBs down the board.

I've learned over the years to never talk in absolutes about the draft. There are just waaaaaaay too many variables at play.

Sure, I'll develop strong opinions about certain prospects but I know I'm gonna be right sometimes and I'm gonna be wildly wrong sometimes. And guess what? So will NFL teams. It's a damn crap shoot.

Just stay away from the QB's this year. Lots of coal to potentially get looking for a diamond.

It feels like 2019 using our 2nd and 3rd (late 1st value) to take Little and then not taking Wills in 2020. In 2021, we trade a 2nd, 4th and 6th for Darnold and pass over Fields and Jones. If we take a QB at 6, it would suck. On the one hand, we will have spent $55M, pick 6, pick 38 (early 2nd), pick 102 (early 4th) and a 6th to get a QB who’s very possibly worse than the QB we could have taken at pick 8 last year. I’m thinking pick 38 and 102 plus $55M in cap space could have shored up the OL and pick 6 would have gotten us a CB as good as Horn.

I hate it when we are right and this team lately has done everything wrong, because our opinions don’t affect the idiotic moves this team makes.

The teams that are always good across multiple generations of players (Packers, Steelers, Patriots, Seattle) have ALWAYS been one step ahead at important positions. This team basically was too afraid to draft a replacement for Cam and went bargain bin shopping for important OL positions….so now we are where we are. Don’t get attached to players and evaluate everyone in merit..not emotion. If you do that then your team will succeed. If you can’t do that then you’re gonna be drafting top 5 every year.

The reality is that Cam got hurt in 2018 and showed that he wasn’t Superman anymore. We sucked and went a mediocre 7-9. When he played…Cam played injured a significant portion of the year. The next year was the end of his career basically. The writing was on the wall tho. He got beat up more than any QB in history. If this team is the Packers, Patriots, Ravens…..They’re drafting a QB in 2018 ANTICIPATING Newton falling off. They’re storing them on the roster and then they’re rolling on when (not if) Cam gets knocked out. Basically we passed on Josh Allen and then Cam gets knocked out the next year. Hindsight is 20/20 for that one.

But then….perfect opportunity to make amends with Herbert ONE PICK ahead of us. We stay out and take a DT already knowing that Teddy “noodle arm/busted knee” Bridgewater is the only answer we have? At the very most he’s a bridge to a starter. Which they basically decided after one year. But didn’t have a backup plan. Bc the freaking plan was playing in LA for the Chargers. Just so many screw ups and now we go into a draft with a bunch of dudes who aren’t as good as the QBs the last 2 years and who probably aren’t as good as the QBs next year (Young, Stroud) so literally the only move for Fitt is to take a tackle and sacrifice Rhule. Bc make no mistake we see gonna suck again and sucking again is really probably the only way to not suck continuously for a long long time. Because they blew it for another 3-4 years trying to be relevant and really haven’t been since 2017.
