I’m in the same boat. It really sucks. The silver lining for poo teams is supposed to be draft hype but we have 1 pick worth a damn. Can’t believe it

The draft being this late is so stupid. Put it in March, NFL. 6 weeks after the Superbowl is plenty of time to draft prospects, the NBA does it 3 weeks after the finals and every team is already scouting prospects all year anyway. The NFL needs new leadership.

Veteran players would never agree to that.

They want the chance to get big contracts from teams that need help before those teams can just draft cheaper rookies.

Then have free agency 4 weeks after the end of the Superbowl

Waiting 11 weeks after the Superbowl for the draft is very excessive

Superbowl first Sunday of Febuary

Free Agency/Trades first Monday of March

Draft last Thursday-Saturday of March

Rookie/Undrafted/Tryouts minicamp first two weeks of April

After minicamp players get mandatory 12 weeks vacation (veterans get about 5 months after Superbowl)

Training camp third monday of July (18th this year)

4 weeks of training camp with no preseason games

2 preseason games, 1st preseason game 3rd Saturday of August

2 weeks between second preseason game and first game of season

You have to also keep in mind that with the league wanting to expand to 18 games, it's possible the offseason gets pushed back even further.

Ideas of this kind have been brought up before. The Players Association tends to not be a fan of such thoughts

Boy, some of those days team's scouts are going to be spread thin!  The 9th and 23rd are jammed packed.
