The Charlotte Observer reports "there's a strong chance" QB Sam Darnold will be the Panthers' Week 1 starter.

Fitterer has literally said he's going to be adding lots of competition to the QB room. if Darnold somehow comes out on top of that competition, I can't imagine it will last all that long. there will be a rookie (or injured 👀) QB waiting in the wings to take over.

If any trade or other than benching Darnold I hope this don't take place.

No one in the NFL is serious about Kaepernick anymore. Regardless of how good(or bad) he was viewed as a player and regardless of his political stance, he has not taken an NFL snap since 2016. He does not have a future in the NFL as a player.

I don’t understand people fascination with Kaepernick. He had regressed a lot. He is 34 years old. And hasn’t played a game since 2016.
I know people will say he is better than Darnold but is he really? Plus I am tired of people going to that reason for signing mediocre players. Even though I don’t think Kaepernick is mediocre anymore.

Been saying this since the season ended. It makes zero sense to give Rhule a rookie or one of the leftover vets because not one of them will save his job. Wouldn’t doubt if Tepper told him to upgrade the line and prove everything we gave up for him was worth it.

I agree, in addition the coaching staff should be stronger. His biggest challenge is decision making on those few occasions when his protection held up. If a quarterback is drafted he will sit for some time. There are no available quarterbacks that would be an upgrade. A healthy McCaffrey and decent OL is worth 3  more   Wins if the defense holds up.

    • Thanks to BC's versatility and the addition of Nijman as a swing OT, the costs we have spent on the OL may save us a roster spot.  First, Brady Christensen has played OT and OG for Carolina, and he has always been a notch below average, according to PFF.  Last season, they talked about giving him looks at center, but his injury prevented that from happening.   Most of his experience here is at G, but he also has swing OT abilities.  Nijman is an excellent swing OT, an important addition that gives us Ekwonu insurance and depth at both T spots.  If you consider Cade May has been mentioned as the new backup Center behind Corbett, then he also has the ability to play 3 positions.  Here is how you have solid depth three deep and you do so with better and fewer players.  In the past, the OL has been a madhouse when a lineman goes down--we had 2.  It seems we had someone new in the game every week.  The OL needs to know the system and they need to communicate.  If I were coach, I would carry 8 total OL on the 53-man roster, saving at least one roster spot, and I would feel confident that I had depth on three levels.  Here is what it would look like: (I would keep Zavala on the PS to begin the season--he needs it)  Green indicates a free agent addition
    • Nice to have a front office that actually is trying to address the o-line for once.
    • I hope you find a way to enjoy the team.
