In a nutshell it ain't pretty for successful qbs past 2nd

Yep, people say that plenty of 1st round QBs have been bust, but first rounders have overwhelmingly been the ones under center for Super Bowl Champions.  Take Brady out of the equation and the list non-first round SB winning QBs gets really thin.

I'm surprised people are not calling them out on it or even mention that this could be a possibility.

Yeah, I imagine this will be Carson's last year there.  Penny is a 1-year deal so they have the Spartan in waiting to run with whoever they pick next year. Two brand new tackles will have rookie speedbumps.

Lock is just going to be launching jump ball bombs to Metcalf and Lockett half the time lol.

if my quick math is right (might not be).  Last 20 years.  24 different QBs have played in the Super Bowl.

13 first round products.  11 that weren't.

Well sure, but Brady has won 7 of the things, so that's taking a lot of them out of the equation.

Now take Brady out

he was only counted once.  24 different QBs.   Brady only counted once, just like Peyton and Big Ben only were counted once too.

13 first round, 11 non-first round.

So, I see why they passed in round 2 given the talent pool and knowing others weren't really going to draft a one.

I think this part of the reasoning has been underrated. This was an abnormally deep draft class. If you don't like a QB enough to take them in the 1st you probably don't like them enough to skip drafting another starting caliber player in the 2nd.

Other reasons:

  • Better QB class projected for 2023
  • Not many teams that "need" a QB
  • Baker + Jimmy being available means you have a semi-known cost for a viable QB option

It is amazing how virtually every early 22' mock was some sort of combination of Rattler, Howell, Willis, Ridder, Slovis, Strong in the TOP 10-15 OVERALL.  And then some random 5th-year senior from Pittsburgh ends up the only QB in the top-70 lol.

Funny enough, they nailed a lot of the high picks elsewhere with the bulk consistently having Kayvon, Stingley, & Neal in the top-10.

Yeah, but next year's predictions will be accurate for sure 😕
