The starting offensive line could look like this in week 1:

Christensen - Icky - Bozeman - Corbett - Moton

That, ladies and gents, looks pretty promising, even if Icky starts his career at guard.

Definitely... But if the long term plan is BC at guard and Icky at tackle, I hope that is worked in to the season somehow. I won't begrudge decisions on where rookies start early in the season, but I just would like us to get the guys experience where we expect them to play long term.

I mean if this was a Jordan Gross type move I would totally be on board.

we worked Gross in slow because we had a 10 LT vet and former pro bowler playing LT.   I just don’t see why you would delay Icky for Brady.  A 2nd year player with 3 LT starts.

I'm not sure why people are mad at this. Brady Christensen is the most athletic lineman we have. That's a fact. He also played well at LT last year when given the opportunity. That is also a fact. He has also had a full year in the NFL and been able to develop as needed to improve. He should be a starter. And the best combination of 5 OL is the best decision to make. What's the problem exactly?

It pisses us off because of the absolute disaster we had as the OLine last year when Fhule flat out refused to play BC at LT until the season was tanked.  Now, all of a sudden BC is the man?  Does anyone trust this idiot?

Why does this narrative continue? BC played 45% of all offensive snaps and started 6 games as a 3rd rounder who missed a game due to injury and barely played the first 4 weeks. He played almost 2/3 of the snaps the other 12 games. Again, it ain’t surprising that our FAs played more early and that our 3rd round rookie didn’t play much the first few weeks.

Could Rhule have played him more? Sure, but acting like a guy who played 45% of the offensive snaps can’t be evaluated is ridiculous. I don’t think Rhule is saying he couldn’t evaluate BC. I think he realized that the rest of the OL was pure garbage and BC should have been the starter all year and gotten more good experience.

Also, BC doesn’t have close to the ceiling of Iky. You don’t pass on Iky for BC. I hope Iky reaches his potential.

Rhule had him trying to play 4 positions on the line. He's not an interior lineman yet if ever. He was manhandled with power right up the middle. He was our best looking LT in preseason. He should have played LT game 1. We all knew it. We were all saying it. It's not like his ability at LT was some magical revelation in the last 3 games. Rhule just ignored what was blatantly obvious to armchair coaches from the Huddle.

the mishandling of Brady Christensen sums up perfectly why I think Matt Rhule has not fuging idea what he is doing.

You draft a lifetime LT and immediately say he projects better as a Guard.

Then you spend the entirety of his rookie offseason with him playing at RT. A position a.) he has never played before and b.) the only solidfied position on our Oline.

Now instead of getting to see a full season of him at LT, you draft the best LT prospect in the draft and you want to try Brady at LT NOW ???

fug off Rhule

Our new OL coach is one of the best in the game.  Im Confident he will advise Rhule accordingly and Rhule will heed that advice.

I hope this is true. Someone to help counter the Rhule effect.

I'd say that about sums up the frustrations.  It wasn't the amount that BC played, it was the fact that he played most of it everywhere except where he was projected to be.  And it wasn't like the LT position was successfully being locked up by anybody.

It was like Rhule was trying to prove a quote falsely attributed to Churchill right.  He can be counted on to do the right thing after he has exhausted all other possibilities.

I think this and Rhule has to keep the competition going.   Technically it’s probably a good thing to say something to this effect in June. Rhule just sounds dopey when he says it.

Its hard to say until pads come on. BC seems to be a smart player- he knows the playbook and the calls. He also has great feet and can get to his spots (especially when there is not a lot of contact). Ike is learning and he has also only focused on LT which kinda tells me that's where Camden wants him. When pads come on the staff will really know what they have. I'm anticipating Ike throwing Burns into the stands on running plays- but having trouble on passing downs. We will see.

The fact that we are rationally debating where/when two young up and coming linemen will play is refreshing compared to last year.
