The four to five weeks between OTAs and TC has always been the worst for me as an NFL fan, and even more as a Panthers fan. I think that it's worse when your team has had a string of recent down-years, and you don't know when or if you'll be getting off the treadmill of suck. 

This is the period on the Huddle when you have to maneuver through insignificant fluff or trite, repetitive threads about how the HC sucks, the OC sucks, or this player sucks and how the coming season is an ode to a lame duck. Sure, you try and garner something new from the  rehash of old information, and you can pay attention to whatever general soap opera is going on the NFL at the time---this year, just like last year, it's Deshaun---but even that gets old and tiresome. Without the occasional signing of a prospective, old crafty veteran, or a tainted, but possibly talented youngin (at least that's what you try and tell yourself), this period of the NFL offseaason is one big void of virtual nothingness. 

There's no more NBA finals. Hockey is over, not that anyone watches it other than the occasional playoff game. Baseball? Golf? Soccer (🤮)?How boring in comparison. Tennis, maybe! I don't know.

It's a good period to spend quality time with the family, boys and gals! Take a few trips, go for walks, the gym, the lake. Cook out on the grill, have a few beers, some good wine, and put all these worthwhile things on the forefront of your mind and that omnipresent desperation for NFL football on the back burner. It will help you get though this dry spell.

I disagree that it’s worse when your team is bad. I find it much harder to get through an off-season when you have expectations for the panthers to win the super bowl next year. 

Enjoy your summer knowing that you have no reason for fall to come other than to be pleasantly surprised by an overachieving team. If not, we are right back where we started.

Julio Jones was the only trade last June, Randall Cobb/Anthony Miller the only trades last July/first week of training camp. If we actually do get Baker in the middle of vacation before the Watson stuff is settled that'll be pretty fuging dumb.

I remember better times when the offseason wasn't about who sucked but how we were about to crush everyone and win it all. Boy.....I miss those days.

I disagree. Even when you get disappointed, it's hard to trade those highs from believing all offseason that this is the year. Man, I miss that poo.

You know what's funny, I remember those offseasons even more than say, the 2015 regular season. When we were marching through the season undefeated, it was hard to get too high because it was insanely surreal. It didn't even feel like it was real.

Of course you don't like watching soccer if you only watch in the summer. The MLS is worse than a minor league baseball league. As a diehard lifelong Liverpool supporter, I can tell you that judging soccer by MLS is a joke. The Premier League is king, followed by Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga and finally League 1. 

I know this may not sway you and you probably wont watch when the season starts back (about 3 weeks before the NFL kicks off typically) but you just can't call the MLS a soccer league. I am glad Charlotte has a team but its just not comparable at all.

      Canes practicing again at 11:00~ today. I assume the islanders are already in town and will practice today since it’s a 5:00PM start tomorrow.

      I don't think the tag "disappointing" is fair for Schoony and Meyer as rookies. They both had to play beside a volume WR sucking up touches (top 2 in the league in targets).  Schoony was the #2 TE behind Ferguson, so tough to be impactful as a rookie - Mayer barely played till week 5 and got hurt and missed the last 3 games, not to mention playing with a rookie QB.  So once again - context matters alot.   That said I believe there is 1 stud, 1 high potential overpay, and 3 big value TE's in the draft - Bowers may be Kelce so probably worth 1st round value.  Sanders is getting a bit overhyped with his potential so he might go earlier than he should.  I think we should be looking to snag Sinnott, Wiley, or Stover - my preference is Sinnott but Wiley could be there in rounds 4-5 or later and could be well worth it. RB I definitely think Chubba is underappreciated - again context!  Our OLine was horrendous and he averaged 3.8 Y/A!!!  I mean come on - dude easily lost 0.3 at least on those idiots.  But that said his pass catching and pass blocking were pretty poor most of the year also.  An upgrade would be great, but I tell ya, with the RB market as it is now where I can get Sequan for $12.5M, I am NEVER drafting a RB above round 4 unless he is the next CMC.....just go to the FA market and find some pocket change in your couch and get a top 5 RB.  We just screwed that up with Sanders.  But the guys in the 3-5 round range could be OK....there isn't a top tier RB in this draft IMO.  I would sit it out this year on RB unless you can get a decent guy who falls far.....Sanders and Chubba are likely better then most anything in the draft.
