And let me just say again, thank God this mess no longer has anything to do with the Panthers

Sad truth is, that is Tepper had gotten his way, it would be a Panther mess. I have zero confidence in Tepper at this point.

Good for the Texans washing their hands of it.

What are you talking about? Hundreds of hours? Dude they sued Watson and then they just mentioned the Texans. Heck, the Texans pre-settled as they hadn’t even sued them yet. The lawyers and ladies are getting free money when they might have thought they didn’t have much of a chance against the Texans. The case against Houston isn’t close to the case against Watson. I doubt they paid out $15M for a narrative and there’s not much difference between $100k and $50k, which would total $1.5-3M.

Nothing about this is a massive PR victory. The Texans just want it to go away since Watson’s not their problem now.

The only PR victory in this for the Texans is that they stop getting bad press on this after the story of the settlement dies down.  That should take about three days, and then the bleeding stops.

They'll still be getting bad press for their play on the field, but that is situation: normal.  Better to be thought of as a lousy football organization than a lousy football organization AND an enabler of sexual misconduct.

I get the distinct feeling from this post that you don't understand how lawyers work.

Yes, the lawyers invested hundreds of billable hours. They have interviews on top of interviews with the accusers, they take the time to transcribe everything, conduct research on the accuser's claims, study legal precedent, consult with experts, type up legal documentation. Across a staff of partners, paralegals investigators and documentation specialists, yes, they've invested hundreds of billable hours before they tip their hand to the subject of the lawsuit. They're probably taking these cases pro bono, so the only way they get their costs covered is by recouping their legal fees through a settlement or a court awarded amount.

They don't settle for an amount that just barely keeps the lights on.

anyone who pays a settlement and/or non disclosures should be dragged through the mud, 100% considered guilty, and get ridiculed as such

it’s the only way to discourage this garbage

it dumbfounds me how ndas and settlements work and basically give people a pass from not only the legal system but the perception of society

this should be worse if not equal than a guilty sentence imo

money>facts

Are you a lawyer? The sooner they settle, the sooner it blows over for them. It's not like they are hurting for the type of cash they had to pay out.

I understand why they settled as soon as possible. If there was no guilt in the organization they would have told Buzbee to fug off for free
