All joking aside, you really have to think Rhule is only keeping Sam on the roster for pride. Baker will be our starter, Matt should be our backup and getting those reps. We really don’t need Darnold at all. Rhule saving face is more important than getting our “future” all the reps he can get.

Could be they’re hoping he shows enough that another team wants him. Would probably be willing to eat a lot of his contract.

Went to TC today. Baker is a great dude. He gave a practice ball away to my disabled brother in law. Spent a good amount of time talking to him and taking pictures. I was totally blown away

Funny how getting to know someone helps.  All we heard about Baker before he arrived is that he was a problem, a bad attitude, a distraction.  Interestingly, people outside the team had similar impressions of Cam during his time here.

Turns out Cam is a pretty damn good dude.  Seems like maybe Baker too.  If Baker can come in and just be 70% of what Cam was on the field, you've got a recipe for success.  Cam never had weapons like what we have right now.

The huddle has reached the point where pointing out that Rhule beat Rivera two years ago compels derision.  Its sad.

If you say so much as “Matt Rhule actually looks like he showered this morning for once”, you get a swarm of certain obsessed weirdo Huddlers tripping over themselves to rush in and say “LoOkS LiKe ThE mAtT rHuLe FaN cLuB iS oUt In FuLl FoRcE”. It’s pretty hilarious.

The guy has made some terrible decisions but seems to genuinely learn from his mistakes. All thats out the window if Mayfield isnt starting Week 1 and Icky isn't LT1 by Week 6. I'm with the thinking of not having your rookies brains bashed in by the Murderers Row our first few weeks.

That brings up something I meant to ask @ellis

John, what's your opinion of Anderson as a WCO receiver?

West Coast Offenses certainly do make use of deep threats (Reid used to do it all the time in Philly) but the primary skill set needed is the ability to catch a quick pass and run it for a lot of yards. Pure deep threats tend to work better in a Coryell.

Anderson is certainly a deep threat, but have you seen enough of him as a RAC guy to endorse him in our system? Heaven knows his hands were an issue last year.

I feel like I've definitely seen him do that before, just not sure if I've seen it enough.

RA will benefit from getting back into the shallow cross/hitch/pivot route game within 5-7y of the LOS. Teddy fed him a ton of WCO-ish targets in ‘20, and the RAC production was quite good.

On occasion, peppered into a 3rdQ situation in which Carolina has established a viable run game, you‘ll see Ben dial up some 2-man route shot concepts, as he did in practice Tuesday when Baker hit Robbie on that 35+ y post off PA.

From GB’s pass game install in 2012 (McAdoo was part of this install)

I hate to disrupt the echo chamber, but by all accounts, the players really like Rhule.

I mean, I think people like Sam Darnold.   I think that kind of blurs the discussion.  Thinking someone is a good or likeable human doesn't mean they believe in them at job X.

There was reporting last year by The Athletic that people were growing sour on Rhule the HC.  So by all accounts, the players aren't all in on Rhule the HC.

Makes sense, though I'm admittedly a little iffy when it comes to Anderson on crossing routes because of how thin he is. I think we saw him "alligator arm" one or two also last season.

Curious, where'd you get the play sheet? I've seen a bunch of things like that posted from Honest NFL (good stuff)
