I was 11 years old. Watching the game at home with my dad. He is a diehard Bengals fan, but I know he loved seeing me so into football at that point in my life. 
 

I had only been following the Panthers and keeping tabs on every game for a couple of seasons at that point. My first memories involve Chris Weinke and Wesley Walls.  
 

I’ll never forget watching this game as long as I live. Sitting on pins and needles the entire time. As soon as Smitty caught it and took off, my dad and I jumped off the couch and started screaming. As he ran it in, I remember trying to give my dad a big hug, while still jumping, and I accidentally head butted my dad right in the chin! I felt so bad about it, but he was fine and just super happy for me. 
 

Sat alone in my room watching us the week after beat the Eagles to go to the Super Bowl.  Was too nervous to watch with anyone else at that point. Pretty sure I cried when we won. I know I cried when Brady beat us, but that was obviously a very different kind of sobbing.

I don't think I could make myself sit down for the entire overtime. Just anxious pacing the entire time.

...and when Michael Vick fumbled against WVU, allowing the Mountaineers to get the ball and take the lead over Virginia Tech.

By best friend and his wife lived with us then.  I was yelling so much that she (totally uninterested in football) started watching.  You know the up and down emotions that you had during that game.  Going through them while seeing her get just as excited about it was really cool.  Not just that she wasn't a Panther fan.  She didn't even like football but LOVED/HATED/LOVED that game.

And just a cool reminder:  Do you remember the horrible feeling as overtime #1 was ending and we couldn't do anything on first or 2nd down.  It just had the feeling that we were going to have to punt it back to them.

Instead,

I know for some the answer might be along the lines of "in preschool" (perhaps even "not yet born" for a few) but for those of us old enough and lucky enough to have watched arguably the greatest moment in Panthers history happen live; where were you. who were you with, what did you do, etc.

Watching in an off campus apartment at a party after taking my brother back to NC State.

I had just moved into my new apartment in Boone.  Watching with my new roommates, the game was gut wrenching.  True to form Cardiac Cats.  Ricky Manning Jrs INT nearly gave me a heart attack. (I think the Rams’ FG that fell short actually did.)

Then came the first play of double OT.  The first double OT game Id ever seen.  Jake drops back, pumps, then fires a bullet to a breaking Smith and BOOM!

Im out the front door into the night ripping my shirt off running full bore into the freezing mountain air.

Thats when I hit the ice in the parking lot.  

Popped back up like it never happened and more deliberately made my way back inside.

I was in my first apartment.  My roommate and I were just watching the game, drinking, snacking etc.  Then that play happened and we lost our poo!  Jumping, screaming, and generally upsetting our neighbors.  Yeah, we were totally excited and happy jerks 😃

I was sitting in a yard sale recliner in the living room of my 750 odd square foot house that was built by a man in 1938 ( an ancient relic of a by gone Wilmington) located in Middle Sound, NC .  Luckily the  roof was of the age that it was made of actual boards and nails or  I probably would have blown it off with my whoops of joy.

      TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."

      DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
